28.03.2019 : I currently have space for anyone who wants to help in April & May.
05.02.2019 : Two amazing girls have been with me for 5 weeks and we achieved a lot. Sadly it’s time for them to move on so once again I am looking for help. Ideally I need some strong helpers to dig holes for some new fruit trees, etc.
27.12.2018 : I had wonderful helper who helped ring in about 50% of the olive crop and now I need some help to pick the rest plus other general work.
09.11.2018 : The olives are ‘ripening’ rapidly therefore helpers will be needed from the beginning of December to help pick them.
28.08.2018 : It has been a very busy summer with the help of some wonderful helpers. August has been a scorcher so little has been achieved .... what does that mean .... it’s going to be a busy next couple of months as it cools down.
I am looking for helpers from now.
07.05.2018 : Thank you ... due to the amazing response from Helpers, I cant take anymore in May, but please feel free to contact me for June and other months ... gratified!
01.05.2018 : I have had some wonderful girls help out recently but due to the abundant rain, the weeds, growth etc are overwhelming me! Help is needed in May
30.03.2018 : Happy Easter. Looking for helpers from the 16 April. Ideally for at least 2 weeks or more.
13.03.2018 : The recent rain (and more rain) has been very welcome generally for the Property but the ancient terrace walls are starting to collapse in places so it would be wonderful if helpers with the experience of stone work can come and help me repair them ....... PLEASE
Of course other helpers are also welcome.
24.01.2018 : It has been a busy month picking olives and now will prune the trees which have been neglected for many many years. Want to redesign the veggie garden and put in an irrigation system. So many other jobs to as well so help is really appreciated!
Update: 09.11.2017. With the help of wonderful helpers, the property is looking better and better but the chores are never ending! Due to the current accommodation arrangement, I am only able to take boys! Sorry girls.
Update: 10.08.2017. It is nearing almond picking time and although I don't have a large number of trees, help is always welcome. There is also still bramble clearing to be done and terrace walls to be repaired / rebuilt.
Update: 10.06.2017. I am making good progress after my accident and require helpers from now.
My last place of residence was UK but originally came from Zambia, being bought up in Zimbabwe and also lived in South Africa for many years. I have come to Spain to enjoy sunshine once again and enjoy a rural setting with nature at my door step. The property I have purchased is relatively small and has a few citrus trees, a number of olive, almond & fig trees and grape vines. I have recently planted some stoned fruit, apple and pear trees. Before I moved in the property was vacant and neglected and very overgrown. The property is situated in a valley with a small stream (it was a mill) and a natural spring. There is also a well and the property receives 'agricultural' water once a week. There is also a 'balsa' (water storage) which can double up as a swimming pool.
My aim is to tidy the place, incorporate some areas for bird watching, care for the trees, introduce more indigenous trees and possibly erect a couple of wooden chalets so that I can share this lovely, peaceful place. I am generally strong and can do a lot myself but I do have a 'health' issue that has weakened my left side and I have days where I am tired, hence the reason I require additional help.
I do not speak Spanish (at the moment) ... only English. I have had so many different experiences in Africa and have many stories to share.

Help in the house
This is not all about work, it is about putting together ideas, creating plans and generally enjoying the beauty and tranquility . There will be no outright instructions but guidance and creating together.
The area has a lot of history and the valley is overlooked by a fort. This actual property also has a lot of history (which I still have to discover), so historians will certainly like it and will be able to do research from this peaceful setting. It is a rural setting but days out to the beach (1.5 hours away) or skiing (seasonal) and hiking in the Sierra Nevada. There are plenty of hiking and walking trails in the area. Granada is a 2 hour drive or 4 hour bus ride.
Ideal for keen bird watchers as there are a number of exciting species to see here.
I would like to enjoy the company of helpers who like a rural setting and will appreciate seeing the property come to life, encouraging nature whether insects, or birds or indigenous plants.
To clear the land of long grass, bramble and fig tree growth
To improve the access road
To make all trees more productive by pruning, irrigating, and more
To create areas for birds and nature
To maintain stone walls on the terraces
To look for ideal hide-away places for a couple of chalets (and build them in the future)
The use of mechanical tools such as weed mower, chainsaw, etc are used to help achieve things. Previous experience using these will be an advantage
There is a cottage that can sleep 3-4 people or couples and a bedroom in the main house.
I have 6 cats, so if you are allergic ... this is not the place for you.
Dobbi is a very dog but a large gentle giant.
Sofi is a medium size dog who recently joined the family. I found her on a road suffering with a broken jaw after being hit by a car.
The property is remote and the closest town has no bar or shop! There are other towns with facilities 6km away.
Normally I go shopping once a week and take helpers with me so they can explore the town.
I recommend that helpers have their own insurance whilst travelling.
