    Description

    Hi there,

My name is Sara, I am a portuguese born and raised in Porto and decided to move to the countryside by myself.

I bought an old and beautiful house in Sever do Vouga, Portugal. The house is surrounded by a forest with oaks and chestnut trees, a natural mediterranean forest full of biodiversity and relaxing sounds. Walking from the house 30min in a trail, you will find “Cabreia” Waterfall, a huge 30-meters waterfall that you can dive and enjoy the lovely nature park with tables and BBQ stations. There are many other beautiful trails and view spots in the neighborhoods.

The house has an average size water tank that we use as a pool from spring to fall. There is also another smaller tank that in the winter is converted into an outdoor wood-powered jacuzzi that has already reached 42ºC!! Burns a lot of wood and takes a few hours, but is totally worth it :)

The main house is mostly renovated. It has two small bedrooms, a big attic (needing some repair), living room, kitchen with normal appliances and one bathroom with hot water. There are also 2 cellars in the ground floor and one small construction in front of the house (needing full renovation). Visitors are welcome to choose wherever they would like to stay, during the cold season I do recommend you stay in the main house, where I also live.

I usually cook for myself, I am not vegetarian but don’t mind eating so we can share meals. There is a high-speed internet connection powered by Starlink. The cellular network is very poor, almost nonexistent inside the house, but outside is ok enough for a phone call.

It is recommended you have a vehicle in case you want to move freely. The closest train station is 30km (25min ride by car). It is possible to get to the train/express bus to main cities by public transport, but there is only one bus from the house to the nearest village (once per week) or 40min walk, where then you would need another bus to get to the city where you will find the train/bus connecting other main cities. Most of the time, I work from home remotely, but there are periods where I travel for a couple of days. You are welcome to use my car during the days I don’t need it and I am also happy to pick you up, show you around or give you a ride wherever you want as long as my schedule allows it.

I’ve a background in agronomy, founded in a tech startup where I currently work and enjoy simple things in life. During the week, I spend most of my time working and during the weekends I always enjoy engaging in repair projects, constructions, fruit picking and other activities around the house. On weekend nights, I also enjoy playing a board game while having a glass of wine at home or just going out and meeting some friends in the city.

Since this year is the first year I am living here and I still keep my full-time job, there are thousands of things to still do around the house. Some of the projects are: fruit picking, garden/forest cleaning, wood-cutting, growing the vegetable garden, housekeeping, repair and construction work. I am a very flexible person and for that reason I don’t want to fix a working schedule and also accept any visit duration. I do expect a fair trade between what I can provide and how much you can contribute in return. Most of all, I want to connect with people with similar values and that enjoy minimalistic life as much as I do and that also want to spend a great time here. If you have a project or are into tech/startups you are also welcome to work from here and I can also provide some mentoring on that side.

    Looking forward to meeting you,
    Sara
