Description
Have you been in South Australia the last two weeks??? Please don’t contact us unless you have proof. Do you have a host or employer I can check with?
You must be willing to self isolate to protect us.
We haven’t hosted for a while because we have been very busy working but now we are sad to see that many backpackers are currently trapped and jobless in Australia. We are looking for a single person to we can offer a partly converted shed space to.
We have two major projects we are tackling: converting a shed into music studio and painting the inside of our house. Does this interest you?
Located at Mount Barker Springs in the beautiful Adelaide Hills we offer Private accommodation in your own caravan with double bed, wifi, 3 healthy meals a day and access to our facilities in exchange for 5 hours work a day 6 days a week.
We hosted almost back to back for 6 years but this year we haven’t been hosting since last summer because we are both working a lot, the children are busy at school and sport etc and we don’t feel it fair to host if we don’t have the physical and mental energy or time to invest into whoever is staying with us. Over summer though we have more time and can really value the exchange.
Jon is a very busy and hard worker on the farm and when he's not at work he's either relaxing, having family time or doing odd jobs around the place.
Felicity is a singer, musician and teaches music part time.
Our children are at school during the weekdays.
We have had dozens of helpers stay with us over the last 6 years and have loved meeting new people from different countries and working together to enjoy a better life together.
We enjoy having the opportunity to help you have a nice and safe home to stay in while so far away from your own own home and family. We have been able to help our helpers with many of their own problems like car problems, cutting and colouring hair, taking them the dentist! :/ planning their trips, teaching some cooking and more!
We offer a comfortable and safe home to stay in. We have three children; 11, 8 and 8 and live on a Brussel sprout farm in the beautiful Adelaide hills, 30mins from Adelaide by car and 10 mins drive from the town of Mount Barker. There are also buses walking distance from our place.
Most of the jobs we want done are housekeeping, gardening, odd jobs and usually babysitting when we feel comfortable. We are excited to find people who are competent and have basic skills to help mostly inside and around our home with house and yard duties. These include; dishes, washing, floors, cooking (if you can :), bathrooms, gardening, weeding, planting, wood, repairs, lawns and help with the children which is mostly helping them get organized and preparing basic things like fruit and toast etc, and playing. Just the normal daily stuff that has to get done! :)
Especially welcome is someone with experience with children or handyman/building experience. This summer we hope to build a music studio space in one of our sheds for Felicity to work in so if this interests you we’d love to here from you. We have never taken on a project like this before so help us certainly needed!
Our basic family routine is work hard and fast in the morning and then do what you like after that! ;)
Most days the work begins in the morning around 8am and finishes around lunch so you can hve the afternoon free. We are flexible though.
We just prefer that the hours are done in a block so you can have more time to get out and about or whatever you wish to do without more work in your mind.
The Adelaide Hills are full of spectacular natural beauty such as The gorge wildlife park where you can walk among and feed the native animals, hold koalas etc.
