  UPDATE:
  Note: we are relatively new to Workaway but you can view many references from happy helpers on Helpx 😊
  * Currently this workaway is most suitable for a couple, preferably with a car and some renovation experience.
  
  We are located in Lesmurdie, across the road from Mundi Regional park. We live in a large house with a big garden and need help in preparing for 3 generations to live in the house.
  Mostly garden work and granny flat renovations at this stage.
  
  Our household is a grandmother, adult son and wife and 2 children, 3 and 2 years old.
  
  The large garden is full of big trees, a creek and beautiful birds. It is a wildlife haven but needs some work for it to accommodate the young family.
  There are great walking tracks in Mundi regional park.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  I am involved in environmental projects, community music and art.
  We love learning of other cultural experiences and travellers stories.
  I am part of an environmental friends group for Mundi Regional park, across the road from me. We have recently installed in collaboration with Indigenous people interpretation signs. These signs provide information about Nyoongar, the local Indigenous people and their connection to the land. I have been part of this group for over 10 years. Madjtil Morna is an indigenous reconciliation choir I have sung in for 14 years. We sing in English and in Nyoongar. I can introduce workaway visitors to the local culture and language.

  Help

  Couples preferred.
  Gardening:
  Renewing garden. Weeding, establishing new garden beds, planting, fencing and general garden care.
  House:
  Cleaning and general household work.
  Granny Flat:
  Renovation. Building, woodwork, tiling, painting etc.
  
  We will mostly work together, sharing skills.
  
  Don't forget your work boots/gumboots as creek side work can be muddy!

  We are happy to offer 3 meals each day and can provide for a variety of diet preferences.
  
  OR happy for you to self cater or share catering duties.
  
  **during renovations while the granny flat has no bathroom facilities, it may be necessary for you to stay at my sisters house in Kalamunda. This is about 10 minutes away so best suited for those with a car.

  What else ...

  Great walking and wildlife. Variety of walking tracks. Mundi Regional park nearby with Lesmurdie Water Fall and views across to city a short walk from our house.
  Kangaroos are often seen in local bushland.
  Kanyana wildlife sanctuary is only a few kilometres away. See endangered Australian animals, Bilby and Potoroo, echidna and reptiles in care and up close.

  My animals / pets

  We have 5 beautiful chooks (chickens). Their names are Turtle, Piano, Cheese, Biscuit and Debra.

  They are delightful and we get eggs every day.

  We have 2 dogs, old man Cooper and swamp dog Wombat!

  Cooper is a smelly old dog and Wombat is gentle, loyal dog that is amazing with the kids.
