    Description

Hi there – welcome to our page!

I live in rural Co. Wexford with my wife, and my parents who are in a separate house on the same land. My wife and I have recently moved back from London and are loving the slower pace of life and fresh air. The area is stunning, with rivers and mountain walks nearby. The house dates from the 1780s. It is a beautiful historic home and a wonderful example of Irish architectural heritage.

We have lots of ideas for little projects and are looking for some light help around the place. This mainly includes helping to revive our walled garden which has been neglected for some years, clearing brambles, planting a few vegetables or flowers, or helping us keep paths and woodland walkways clear. We also have two friendly pigs, dogs and a horse who all love being fed and fussed over!

We’re not looking for professional gardening or maintenance work — just an extra pair of hands so we can enjoy working on things together. We see this as a chance to share skills and ideas while spending time outdoors.

We both enjoy meeting people from different countries and hearing their stories. We’ve travelled a lot ourselves, so we’re excited to exchange experiences, share some meals, and give you tips on what to do in the local area.

Please note the house operates as a b&b during summer months and we host occasional events. Workaways however will not be involved with paid guests or expected to help in any b&b business or event related activities.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Travellers will benefit from a cultural exchange by experiencing life in an historic country home and farm in rural Ireland.

Through shared meals, conversations, and exploring the local area together, there’s a great opportunity to exchange ideas, recipes, languages, and perspectives. We hope to learn from our guests just as much as they learn from us.

    Walled garden
We’re slowly bringing the walled garden back to life and would love some help clearing brambles and overgrown areas, pruning the apple trees in the small orchard, weeding, planting, and watering vegetables. We’ll work together, and you’re welcome to learn about gardening (and teach us!) as we go.

    Garden and animal care
Helping us keep the gardens looking nice with simple tasks like watering and light tidying. Helping look after and feed the animals.

    Wood
We have logs to split and stack for the wood shed. This is light physical task — a great way to get fresh air and keep warm fires going!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We are very rural so workawayers should be aware of that. We can bring you into town if we are going but cannot run a taxi service.

The local town has good transport links for you to explore other parts of the country at the weekends.

There is strictly no smoking allowed inside the house.

Our set up is most suited to couples who are travelling together and would like to experience life in an Irish country house.
