Description
Hello lovely Workawayers!
*** WE ARE ACTIVLEY LOOKING FOR A WORKAWAY HELPER ***
Dates: 7th to 14th August (but you are invited to come a few days early to meet the pets)
We live in a beautiful country road next to a canal, just outside of the town of Maynooth, County Kildare (about 40 minutes from Dublin), and we are looking for someone to take care of our dog and cat for a week.
Our house is in a beautiful location and has everything you need for comfort. You will have your own room and access to the whole house, with high-speed Internet and wifi. Thanks to solar panels, we have piping hot water all the time. Take time out for yourself and enjoy country walks, or explore the local villages with their many shops, pubs and restautants. For more adventure - Dublin city centre is 40mins away by train (and if you prefer to relax at home, we have Netflix and comfy sofas).
All we ask in return is that you enjoy the company of a crazy little King Charles Spaniel called Fudge and a soft, friendly pussycat called Socks. We also ask if you would water the plants in the conservatory every couple of days... that's it!
Required:
Feed the pets twice per day
Walk the dog every day
Water the house plants every two days
Please note: It is impossible not to fall in love with Fudge, so you may not want to leave us! -

If you're an animal lover then our two pets are great fun and love cuddles.
If the weather is nice, you can borrow one of our bikes and go off exploring, or relax in the garden, or walk down the canal to the local village. There are also several beautiful parks nearby and in the evening the local town of Maynooth offers live music and plenty of choice of restaurants. Alternatively... chill out in front of the TV and catch up on the latest Netflix series with a dog on your lap, or use the kitchen to get creative cooking... choice is yours! -
Help
Our cat is called "Socks" becasue she is black with white paws (like little socks). She has two meals a day (around 7am and 6pm... she will probably jump on your bed in the morning to wake you up !). She also always has a bowl of dry food available to snack on during the day if she wants it. She always needs access to fresh water (and likes to drink out of a pint glass). She spends most of her time relaxing (well for some).
The dog is a King Charles called Fudge (on account of his colour and soft nature). He is FULL of fun and love and very silly. He eats a bowl of dry food in the morning and a bowl of wet food in the evening. He's only a little fellow, so it won't take too much to tire him out with a walk and some play (we usually walk him for around half an hour in the morning, then another half hour in the afternoon/evening). He sleeps in his cage at night, which he enjoys as his safe place (when you say "Bedtime Fudge" in the evening, he'll just trot insode and curl up!)
Both pets need fresh water available throughout the day, especially during hot weather, and both pets come and go using the same dog/cat flap (though we have outside defences that allow the cat to go wherever she wants, while the dog gets no further than the back yard).
Our garden is quite large, with lovely areas where you can relax without being overseen by anyone. The dog (and the cat) both love playing in the garden, but for walks the canal tow path is definitely the place to go as there is so much to see... fish, herons, mink, bats, even otters if you're lucky!
We will be away for one week, but invite you to join us a few days before we leave so that we can introduce you to the pets and show you some of the local area :) -

What else ...
The closest shop is Aldi (about a 10min walk) and the bus stop for Dublin city is opposite the shop. It's a number 115 bus and it takes 30-40 mins to get into Dublin. The buses run pretty much around the clock so if you decide to stay out late then you will still be ablew to get back to our house.
You can also get the train into town - slightly faster journey (but a 20 min walk to the train station).
(There are several other bus routes into towns which go through all the small villages - great if you want to go exploring somewhere different.)
Popular tourist attractions in Dublin include Guinness Storehouse, Book of Kells in Trinity College, Dublin Castle and Temple Bar. Please bear in mind if you go out for the day that you'll need to be back to feed the pets in the afternoon.
Finally, we are non-smokers, so if you smoke please do that outside, thanks. -

Socks (14 years)
With the lovliest temperament (and called Socks on account of her white paws), she's an old girl now and spends most of her time asleep. That said... she can still catch a mouse!
