    Description

    Hi!

We are a couple named Ralf (45) and Jörg (47) living on an organic permaculture farm in Lower Austria in the south of Vienna. We are running an organic farm cooperative together with two other men producing young plants, veggies, berries, fruits, herbs, honey, eggs and meat.

We are also interested in traditional preserving and fermenting in form of juice, jam, cider, Sauerkraut, Kimchi, vinegar... etc (new fermenting techniques are always welcome!). Regional recipes from all over the world are appreciated.

We are located in the region called “Bucklige Welt”. It’s famous for its hilly landscape, a very inviting natural surrounding. The forests here are full of deer and also delicious mushrooms. ;-) Our area is also famous for climbing, hiking and biking.

Our farm is at the end of a dead-end street and there is only one neighbor on the other side of a little creek. So it’s a really quiet place.

The next largest town is “Wiener Neustadt”.

Close to our village there is a train stop called “Scheiblingkirchen – Warth” where we can pick you up. From there it’s only an hour by train to Vienna. The trains run frequently.

Summers can be hot and dry with impressive crystal clear skies at night. The nights can be chilly.

We are looking for friendly, communicative and independent people who are:

    - willing to help with the daily routine and do not shy away from necessary chores. If you love cooking you are more than welcome to take over kitchen duties (prepping, cooking, cleaning) during your stay. The same with housekeeping (living room, bathroom, kitchen).

    - willing to learn how to work the fields and to tend the gardens especially seeding, planting, watering, weeding, harvesting and processing the harvest. Farming experience is a plus! Especially when you are able to drive a tractor!

    - willing to help us with feeding the animals. We have goats, chickens, ducks, doves, pigs, freshwater fishes and bees. Most of the animals are for self-sufficiency.

    - interested in sharing perhaps other skills like building, painting, construction, wood working etc. This would be greatly appreciated!

There are so many different ways one can contribute to our farm that everyone can find their place.

    What we offer:

    - a quiet, stress-free, respectful friendly environment.

    - accommodation in form of a guestroom with wireless LAN, a shared bathroom and shared living space.

    - food with home grown seasonal vegetables and meat. Vegetarians are also welcome!

    - a look behind the scenes of small organic farming and self-supported living. You can learn a lot about seed production, cultivation, harvest, storing and processing of fruits and vegetables.

    - everything there is to know about fermentation (kimchi, sauerkraut etc.) and preserving with simple techniques.

We would prefer that you stay at least for 2 weeks.

Must be a huge animal lover! We have four friendly dogs and four cats.

We are native German speakers, who are fluent in English.

We are looking forward to meeting you!
