Description
Hi!
We are a family of four living in a beautiful little village called Gesunda, just on the mainland across from the island Sollerön. The family consists of Anna, Harjinder and Anna's two youngest children Matthew and Hannah. Part of the family are of course also our three cats and our three rabbits. We have lovely views from the property. Gesundaberget can be seen from the front of the house and lake Siljan from the back. In the summer many people walk to the top just to see the views. It is possible to walk to the top during most of the year. Also on Gesundaberget you can visit Santa in one of his many homes, Tomteland. Lake Siljan is one of the largest lakes in Sweden and is popular for swimming, fishing and boating. The whole area is known for its beauty, handicrafts and history. Nearby there are Viking graves, art museums, geological sites, craft shops, forests and more. People travel from all over the world to spend their summer holidays here.
As Anna and Harjinder both currently work in a different city they will only be home occasionally and are looking for someone who can stay for at least one month, preferably longer. We need someone who can take care of the house, garden and animals while we are away. The children (16 and 20) are still living in the house but are struggling to take care of everything themselves.
As per the children's wishes we are looking for 1-2 travellers under the the age of 30.
Please note that we are NOT accepting male travellers at the moment. Being fluent in English is a must.Types of help and learning opportunities
GardeningAnimal CareHelp around the houseGeneral MaintenanceCultural exchange and learning opportunities
There are many sites around here of historical and geological interest. There is also the possibility of learning about the Swedish ecosystem, wildlife and nature. Obviously you can learn about rabbits and cats. We grow some fruit and vegetables too - all organic. As we will not be home so much we will not be able to interact so much with you.
Help
We are looking for help approximately (and not more than) 3 hours per day, 5 days a week. We need help with looking after the rabbits and cats, general maintenance and housekeeping, sometimes with different types of projects. In the summer we need help with mowing the lawn and weeding and in the winter snow clearing. In the late summer and autumn help with harvesting berries, fruit and vegetables is also welcome.
As we are not home we are unable to provide any food hence less working hours.Languages spoken

There is also an outhouse toilet for everyone to use.

Transport around here is limited. There are busses about once every hour. Fewer at weekends. The nearest shop is 6 km away and the nearest shopping centre 17 km away. It is a very rural and quiet place.
Our nearest train station is Mora and the nearest bus stop is Gesunda gärde. We do not have a car at the moment.A little more information

We took care of the animals and the laundry, cleaned the house, making meals and dinner and cleared the snow in the last week of our stay. Our work was on a checklist, and on the long run a bit boring, because you always do the same stuff. We liked to spend time with her cats, which were very cute.

The work was absolutly relaxing, only 4 hours per day instead of 5. Taking care of the 10 rabbits daily and the rest was very varied. For me I picked apples, painted a door, cut some branches off trees or cleaned mushrooms, and of course helped around the… read more
