Are you interested in ranch life? We have a beautiful ranch in Northern British Columbia, Canada. It lays up against a wilderness area and has a lot of wildlife. It is close to Williston Lake and the Peace River and so there is amazing opportunities to hike, view wildlife and camp in Canada's North. We have a boat for fishing. We are working on a few projects such as doing finish work on a log home, and building corrals, barns and fences. We have a sawmill which we use to mill lumber to build with here on the ranch. We can always use mechanical help fixing and maintaining the farm equipment. We will be training horses from the end of April through September. We are lifelong ranchers and horse trainers. We begin building this ranch not too many years ago and have developed the fields out of the forest and built the home and livestock facilities. We are in our 50 and 60's and love working together with people from around the world here on the ranch. There is always a lot of work to do and it is very rewarding to work as a family and a team to accomplish what needs to be done. This is a great opportunity to experience ranch life and the hard work and rewards that go with it!
There is an opportunity to experience a rare and unique way of life of living and working in a remote pristine part of the world. It is very rewarding to care for and work with the horses and to work as part of a family and team to operate the ranch. Many times Workawayers enjoy spending weekends at the local rodeos where they can hang out with local people enjoying the rodeo and dancing, and a western gathering.
There are a lot of skills that are useful and needed on a ranch but a great attitude and willingness to learn is the most important. We can use helpers which have horse experience. A mechanic is always welcome! Lol! Carpentry and experience building is great as we would like to build a shop from logs which we will cut and mill on our ranch. Our log home still needs some finish work such as trim and drywall. We could really use an electrician to finish the electricity in the basement of the house. There is always general labor such as yardwork, gardening, fence fixing and chores that need to be done. Helpers are needed and appreciated and we are willing to help them learn new skills and experience new work they may never have had an opportunity to learn.
We have a bedroom for one or two workers. Meals are a fun time and we enjoy cooking and eating on the deck in the evenings. The food is plentiful and good!
We have Wi-Fi. The ranch is about 30 minutes from the small town of Hudson's Hope. There is beautiful hiking trails in the area. WIlliston Lake and the Peace River are beautiful and there is good fishing. We enjoy having young people in our home and on our ranch and we appreciate the help which they give us!
