My husband and I operate a cow calf operation in Manitoba, Canada. We have four grown children who either moved away from home or work away from home. We take a holistic approach in our farming practices and conservation is very important to us. We grow our own feed for the livestock and horses so some of our summer is spent putting up and hauling hay to the yard. On a daily basis we spend time working with horses, checking and moving cows, maintaining fence, gardening and general yard care. I work away from home in a neighboring town part time and my husband works shift work away from home part time also. We would like someone who is able to do some tasks alone during the day such as working with horses, moving & checking cows, gardening, and yard maintenance.

Help in the house
Through this experience you will gain knowledge in holistic management, conservation, animal husbandry, and operating farm equipment (ATV’s) etc.
We will not ask you to do anything we wouldn’t do ourselves. You will be required to do tasks on your own unsupervised during the day and I will be around during the evenings to help out with daily chores also. We require a helper or two who can help with daily chores such as
- Working with horses
- Moving cattle from paddock to paddock
- Maintaining electric fence
- Yard care
Sleeping accommodations are in a camper with access to bathroom facilities, kitchen, etc. in the house. Meals will be eaten with the family
We will provide a vehicle that you can use locally to visit the sites and friends that you will make. Some local attractions around our area are: Riding Mountain National Park, Asessippi Provincial Park, Duck Mountain Provincial Park and the Inglis Grain Elevators are close by also.
