Hola! My name is Cristina and I am the founder of this place, a fair trade social enterprise focused on developing artisan communities in rural areas of Honduras.
We are based in Tegucigalpa, the capital, but we have focused our work in the Santa Barbara region, 3 hours from the capital, where women have been weaving natural fibers for over 60 years.
Santa Barbara is also one of the poorest regions of Honduras, and work is scarce, wages are low, and people are unwilling to pay for the crafts Santa Barbara artisans make. This has caused a massive exodus from the region, parents go off looking for jobs in the cities or abroad, leaving their children with their ageing parents and relatives.
Weaving junco has become a dying craft.
This is I am so keen on reviving this art/craft so we can provide income generation for this cottage industry and have mothers return to their communities to raise their children while working from home.
We work at a grassroots level, we are 3 people working full time, however, we have accomplished so much since we began.
We believe in what we are doing and we are determined to grow, expand and focus on exporting to new markets. This is why we are looking for people who have expertise in areas where our business needs support.

I am currently running the social enterprise, a Guesthouse( our family owned bed and breakfast serving guests from around the world for 20 years) and am the co-founder of a Design Gallery, a coop type of shared space for makers, designers and creatives selling 100% Honduras handmade products. You will be surrounded by entrepreneurs, creatives, designers, and very interesting people. Making friends is so easy. Hondurans are friendly hospitable people, you will truly enjoy your time here.
We are looking for people who are passionate and truly believe in making a difference. We need professionals in business strategy, business growth, exports, working with US customers, marketing, publicity, product development. We have many needs, so we are open to who you are and how you can enrich and support the social enterprise.
I will provide a room with private bathroom within the bed and breakfast. We have an amazing cook, Juana, and when she is not in the kitchen, you are welcome to cook from what you find in the pantry and what is in the fridge. We will be your home away from home.
