    Description

I live on a peaceful 10-acre lifestyle property in Hunua, just south of Auckland. It’s a quiet rural retreat surrounded by rolling countryside and native bush, shared with two horses and a friendly Miniature Schnauzer.

I'm actively maintaining and developing the grounds, with a focus on native planting, landscaping, and general property upkeep. I’m looking for practical, reliable helpers who enjoy being outdoors and getting their hands dirty.

This is a private rural home and lifestyle property (not a business, farm, or commercial equestrian facility). All tasks are non-commercial residential upkeep and animal care, done alongside me as part of a relaxed cultural exchange

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying here offers a genuine taste of rural New Zealand lifestyle while staying connected to the local community.
Social Connection & What to Do
Evenings around the table: With just me here, dinners are shared, relaxed, and unhurried. By day I work as a corporate lawyer, so evenings are for unwinding, cooking good meals, and sharing stories and a laugh.
Local spots: I’m happy to take helpers along to the weekly Clevedon Farmers Market on Sunday mornings for coffee and local artisan food, share recommendations for nearby coastal walks and Hunua Ranges waterfalls, or introduce you to the rhythms of Kiwi country living.
Skills & Knowledge I Can Share
Practical experience managing a New Zealand lifestyle property, including native planting, grounds maintenance, and outdoor landscaping.
A sounding board and perspectives on career paths, professional development, and navigating corporate life.
Practical tips on travelling New Zealand and discovering hidden spots off the typical tourist trail.
    What I Hope to Learn
I really enjoy hearing different worldviews, perspectives, and travel stories from people of different backgrounds.
Sharing food is central, I'm always keen to learn traditional home-country recipes, swap cooking techniques, and learn about your culture firsthand.

    Help

I’m focusing on outdoor property projects, native landscaping, and day-to-day animal care across my 10-acre lifestyle block. You’ll be working outdoors in fresh air with practical, rewarding tasks. Main tasks include:
-Horse Care: Day-to-day care, grooming/brushing, and keeping the horse arena clean and tidy.
-Native Landscaping: Planting native New Zealand trees and shrubs.
-Garden Care: Weeding, trimming, and mulching garden beds and borders.
-Grounds Keeping: Tidying pathways, lawns, and maintaining clean tree lines.
-General Upkeep: Light hands-on maintenance around the grounds.

Prior horse experience is a bonus, but not essential, I’m happy to guide you through the routines. All tools, grooming gear, and gloves are provided; you just need sensible footwear and an enjoyment of being outdoors.

I ask for 4–5 hours a day, 5 days a week, leaving your afternoons and weekends free to relax or explore the Hunua Ranges.
