Description
We have a large workshop on 10 acres, and a garden that is now asleep for winter, a few trees and a lake. We are rebuilding a 1946 Ercoupe aircraft, and my husband is a registered Aircraft Maintenance Engineer so has all the skills and tools for the job. He is also a pilot and a flight instructor. He is also building an RV10 in conjunction with another local man. We own a rare classic sports car and go to small town car shows in summer. I'm a gardener and cook, and bread maker.
We need some very practical help, with Dennis on the aircraft and with me in the garden. We also need to cut some fallen trees and tow them up to the house with the tractor, and cut fire wood from them. There is outdoor carpentry and painting to do, and fencing. Cooks and bakers are welcome.
We are generally quiet people, and our place is about 35 kilometers from town. We have great neighbours, and a supportive, though scattered community. We often wind down with Byron Lee and Bob Marley, loud classical or Latin music, and bad cooking shows. We have great TV and lots of DVDs. F1 fans particularly welcome, Dennis is a big supporter.
During our working lives we traveled the world for various jobs, and have a wealth of experience, which we would love to share. Besides our varied aviation experience I am a qualified English teacher. We'd also love to learn about you.
We are alcohol free, but the 'other' completely legal drug is okay by us. However, no tobacco please.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We pride ourselves on our life experience and our travels, and our knowledge of our community and our country. We lived overseas for many years in the Caribbean and in the Middle East. We are also happy Canadians, with a true love of our community and culture. This is ranchland, and a visit to the rodeo is likely. A few sightseeing trips by car and aircraft are definitely in the plans!
We are eager to learn about other people and places. I am a Cambridge certified TESOL/TOEFL instructor, and am crazy about English. I don't want to be a school teacher but informal lessons and corrections are always on offer. I am also certified to teach air radio telephony. My husband is 'Mr. Aviation', and can pass along 50 years aviation knowledge. We can teach garden skills, aircraft maintenance, workshop skills, vehicle maintenance, how to drive a tractor, cooking and baking. We have a small library and love to read.Help
Our traveler could help my husband with the aircraft, it could be a very practical learning experience.
I will need help with the garden; weeding, digging the garlic in July, ongoing planting for things like radishes, and so on.
And in August and September there comes a bit of preserving.
We need to cut and move some deadfall, and turn it into firewood. There are some small construction and repair projects to buildings, vital to next winter.Languages spoken

There is a private bedroom and toilet/shower room for the traveler's use, in a separate part of the house. They would have a desk and chair for their computer, and we would discuss television and movie use, as we have a large collection. No Netflix, but we do have Prime.
Wifi is good, and we now have mobile phone coverage in parts of the house. What else ...
As we are quite far from town, you won't enjoy it if you need 'nightlife'. We drive in once or twice a week, and even then we have a list of what to accomplish. You will like it if you want quiet, a dark night sky, and a calm ramble around the place. People under 25 tend to be a bit too energetic for us, we have a better experience with older travellers.
