    Description

2009, I started to create a summer artist studio in Saint Vincent de Tyrosse in the south french atlantic coast. Together with friends and family, we transformed the former automobile workshop of my grand father into a large working studio and renovated the former hotel to make more comfortable rooms for guests, friends and fellow artists to stay at.

2017, my companion and I moved from Germany to live and work in the house all year.

We made some research at the regional archives and found out that the buildings belong to our family since the french revolution. The first house was called "Merveille" after our ancestor Jean Daraspen who always found everything marvelous.
My sister and I are taking care of this project in July and August. I am a graduate of the Düsseldorf Academy of Art in Germany and my sister graduated in sustainable architecture in Gent, Belgium.

From October 16th til 31st, 2025, our son (7 years old) will be on school holiday, and his friend Nima (5 years old) will be visiting us from Berlin. We’re looking for someone, who can ideally speak German, who would enjoy spending time with them, playing with them at the beach. If you like the sea — maybe even surfing — this could be perfect for you.

The beaches of Hossegor, Seignosse, and Capbreton are about 20 minutes away from our house. The boys love to be outside, run, and play, so someone who enjoys being active would be a great match.

It would be ideal if you speak German, since Nima does not speak French.

You may also lend a hand with simple household tasks such as cooking lunch or dinner, cleaning, or doing some grocery shopping.

We want you to feel at home here. We enjoy good food, nature, and the beach. We’d be happy to share what we know and love about our beautiful region—and hope you’ll bring your own good energy and curiosity to help out and enjoy the experience with us.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have two accommodation options available: one room with two single beds, or a double room with a private bathroom. Bed linens, blankets, and towels are provided for all our guests.

When it comes to food, we love visiting the local market to pick up fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. We also occasionally cook meat or fish.

We have a few bikes available for you to borrow, and the ocean is about 12 km away. Local buses cost just 50 cents—or are even free during the summer—and you can bring your bike along in the bus for longer trips.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The south west atlantic coast in the region of les Landes is very beautiful and has many highlights. We often drive to the beach in Seignosse, Hossegor or Capbreton, sometimes we make bigger trips to the basque country, to Spain or for hikes in the Pyrenees.

    Space for parking camper vans

We have a small garden across the street with a parking lot. It's safe and closed with a gate and has a nice cherry tree in the back. A van can be safely parked in there. There is water and electricity. For a toilet and bathroom, you have to cross the street and come inside the house.

    Can possibly accept pets

If you’re staying with us in the house, bringing a pet isn’t ideal—we have a cat who’s not very keen on sharing her space. However, if you’re coming with a van and have a dog that’s comfortable staying in the garden during the day and can relax quietly in the ceramic studio, that could work well. Our son looooooves dogs and would probably be thrilled to have one around!
