 - Description- I live in what was a holiday home (built in the 1980's) in a small village on the Murray River in regional Victoria. The house is located a 2 minute walk to the river with the expansive Barmah National park only 5 minutes away. The town of Barmah has a general store (7am-7pm) that serves coffee, takeaway food and basic essentials, there is also a pub that does meals and is a great place to 'meet the locals'. It's short easy 20 minute drive to the major center of Echuca/Moama and a 45 drive to the regional centre of Shepparton. I work as a singer/songwriter and love living in Barmah surrounded by the quiet, peaceful and natural environment.
 - Types of help and learning opportunities- Gardening - Help around the house - General Maintenance
 - Cultural exchange and learning opportunities- Having travelled the world for many years I know how great it can be to land in a small town where you can meet people. Barmah has an easily approachable mix of people from farmers, to work at home professionals to retirees. Barmah is home to the Yorta Yorta people and the village of Cummeragunja lies directly across the river from Barmah. You can spend time learning about the local environment and history via the local people/s or just have a chat about your travels and theirs.
 - Help- Nothing too strenuous! Just odd jobs around the house and gardens. Weeding, window cleaning, lawn mowing, house-keeping. Odd jobs that are easy and do not require any specific skills.
 - Accommodation- There are multiple options. There are 2 bedrooms available in the house and also a rustic caravan that I use as a guest/visitors bedroom. All main facilities are located in the house, there is also an outdoor spa pool and shower that you are welcome to use.
 - What else ...- You can bush walk, canoe, go fishing or all nature of outdoor activities though all are self guided so don't expect 'tours' or things like that. There is a bus service to/from Shepparton that runs once a day. If your after lots of entertainment or need to be entertained Barmah is probably not for you. It's a peaceful place where your time is what you make of it..which is often the best!
I share care of my 5 year old son so will not host any travellers during these periods.
