Sigiriya is a very small place , you will interact with the local people on every level from collecting water , farming , fishing, and cooking. They are very open and want everyone to eat and spend time with them , even just walking along the jungle road you will be invited to spend time at peoples homes and with their families.

Help
Our community has very beautiful natural landscapes and is full with wild animals, but is in desperate need of clean up projects and education in sustainable farming and living. There are many unemployed people who just need a little help started something for them and their families, they are all willing and able to do anything and do it with a smile. We have our own 'Rastarant' where we could always use some extra hands. If you are a musician or have any special talents in entertainment we can really use your help. We also need people who can teach language , and sustainable living techniques to help prepare them for the tourist who will be coming to their village.

We have a guest house and we are in the process of building rooms in and small hostel and restaurant right inside a jungle landscape. Our guesthouse is in a quiet corner of the forest, it's very common to see monkeys, elephants, jungle cats and many more animals. We also have a house on a farm and a lot of places to sleep , other homestays can be arranged also.
What else ...
There is swimming, camping and fishing or just relaxing in a hammock.
The lion rock is visible from our 'Rastarant'. It's a great location to go on a day trips to other towns and come back during the evening before our great nightlife startsA little more information

I had such a lush time here. Simple living in a quiet fishing village. Chris is a legend; he's lived such a crazy inspiring life and we had many a long conversation chilling on the balcony. I really felt that I adressed and learnt a lot of things about myself in my time there. The work was very easy… read more

It is very hard to do the work we do without me there, but she made it look easy. She had lot of helpful ideas that we are now using, if there were more people like her our job would be a lot easier.
I would highly recommend her to anyone.
If you want to dive into tamil society and see how is the life of fisherman- its the right place.
Chris knows a lot background stories because he is very connected to the villagers.
Also i have to say thanks for his flexibility because of change of plans from my site-… read more
We tried to start a new project and dropped Claudia into uncharted waters. She handled it like a champ you can trust her with anything, if she says she can do it then she can do it. To all other Workaways out there if Claudia sends you a request say yes.
