Maui is a beautiful place and our property is perfectly situated for peace and relaxation. You will be exposed to our local community while staying on this beautiful part of the island. You will learn about bees and experience living off-grid during your stay.
We are currently building a non-profit honey bee sanctuary on our Maui property. Our end goal is to educate the general public about honey bees and bridge the gap between people’s fear of bees and their appreciation of them.
Since this project is in its beginning stage, there are manythings we can use your help with. Here are the tasks we have in mind:
Flower Gardens - beautification of land and creation of additional forage sources for the bees by planting and maintaining flower beds
General Maintenance or Construction - assemble & repair beehives, create structures mostly out wood from shipping pallets
Painting - honeybee themed artistic painting for beautification of the sanctuary grounds, creating hand-painted signs
Online Presence - help share our activities & honeybee information on social media and help maintain our website
Beekeeping - get hands on experience with honeybees by inspecting beehives, extracting & bottling honey
Workshop - learn make natural products using beeswax and honey

Tent accommodation is provided & outdoor kitchen stocked with food staples for you to consume. We have everything you need to prepare food - pots, pans, utensils, cooking oils plus condiments such as ketchup, mustard, relish, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, & hot sauces. Group dinners are generally arranged each evening between us and/or the volunteers depending on diet preferences.
We have a 3-week minimum commitment.
We are located in the beautiful upcountry area of Maui with a gorgeous ocean view and an incredible sunset each night. Our nearest town, Ulupalakua, is just two miles away and is host to the historic Ulupalakua Ranch Store & Grill and Maui’s only winery.
We are located on the road beyond Hana. We are on the dry side of the island which means mostly beautiful weather with little rain and virtually no mosquitoes. We are at approximately 2,000 feet elevation on Haleakala and therefore we have slightly cooler temperatures during the day and can drop down a bit at night. It can be windy at times when the trades are blowing. It is generally pretty sunny and sometimes windy everyday.
