🌍 Worldschooling Home Swap
Invitation: Join Our Montessori Family in Miaoli, Taiwan! 🌱
Hello, worldschooling families! We’re a homeschooling family in Miaoli, Taiwan, embracing Montessori principles and positive discipline, and we’re thrilled to invite a like-minded family for a unique home swap from July 7 to August 1, 2025 (extendable up to 2 months).
Live in our cozy home for free, care for our two wonderful kids during your stay, and explore Taiwan’s vibrant culture and natural beauty! We’ll also have future training sessions in 2026 and 2027, so feel free to apply for those periods too.
About Us
We’re a family of four, passionate about learning through play, exploration, and kindness. Our kids are:
• 4-year-old son: A bundle of energy who loves outdoor adventures, playing all day, and exploring everything. He’s curious, active, and never naps! He understands English fully but isn’t fluent yet, so we’d love for him to have an English-speaking playmate to boost his confidence. He’s gentle with girls and enjoys their company, but he might get rough with boys (like playful hitting). We prefer a girl aged 4–6 as a playmate, but we warmly welcome families with a boy to apply too.
• 1-year-old daughter (born Oct 27, 2023): A big eater with an adventurous spirit, she breastfeeds, loves adult-sized portions, and mimics her big brother’s every move. Both kids understand English completely, as I speak only English to them and am their primary caregiver.
I used to play basketball before kids, but now I’m more focused on family adventures. I’m an English tutor, majored in German at university, and love learning—whether through my upcoming Montessori training or new experiences. I’m inspired by the Medical Medium healing protocol for health but don’t follow it strictly, enjoying a flexible approach to wellness. I love driving (we go to different parks and play centers every day )to explore new places and adore kids, with an easy-going and open-minded vibe, eager to connect with a family who shares our values. Our home has board games and a gym (which you’re welcome to use!), but with kids, we’re mostly busy with their playtime!
We have two friendly dogs and a wonderful Indonesian helper who’s always ready to assist with cleaning or anything you need (she loves chocolate and sweets!). Our home is in a quiet alley, safe for kids to play outside. Parks, swimming pools, supermarkets, restaurants, and night markets are a quick 10-minute drive away, and the beach is just 20 minutes by car. Taiwan is a captivating island, blending bustling cities, serene mountains, and stunning coastlines, with a rich culture of night markets, temples, and warm hospitality. Miaoli, nestled in lush hills, is known for its Hakka heritage, vibrant festivals, and cozy rural charm, offering a perfect balance of tranquility and access to urban delights.
Why We’re Offering This Swap?
I’ve enrolled in a Montessori Elementary Teacher Training program (July 7–August 1, 2025, weekdays 9:00 AM–6:00 PM, with additional sessions in 2026 and 2027) to deepen my skills for my kids’ learning. The course involves significant homework, so I’ll need support with family life during these periods. If you’re interested in future sessions (Feb 2–13, 2026; July 6–31, 2026; Jan 18–29, 2027), let’s talk about swapping then too! My husband, a shy taro and rice farmer, works 6:00 AM–7:00 PM. He speaks limited English and prefers minimal socializing, so we’d appreciate a family who can give him space when he’s home (I may return later some evenings due to homework).
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a worldschooling family who shares our commitment to positive discipline and Montessori values, and who’d enjoy spending time with our kids during your stay, including weekdays and possibly some weekends. Ideally, you’d have a girl aged 4–6 who speaks English fluently to play with our son, helping him grow his language skills through fun and friendship, though boys are welcome too! When our kids have tantrums, we expect you to stay calm and avoid hitting or scolding them, using positive discipline to keep them happy, safe, and respectful.
The Swap Details
• Live in our home for free: Stay from July 7–August 1, 2025 (extendable up to 2 months), or apply for future sessions in 2026/2027.
• Care for our kids: Play with and supervise our son and daughter, taking them on fun outings or enjoying our safe neighborhood, primarily on weekdays but possibly some weekends too. You’ll have full authority to guide them with positive discipline, maintaining our house rules without spoiling them, and staying composed during challenging moments.
• Explore Taiwan: When you’re not helping with our kids, explore Taiwan’s beauty on your own or join us for adventures when I’m free—I’d love to drive us to local spots or travel together! I can also care for your child when I have time, giving you flexibility for date nights or solo trips.
• Perks: Use our Subaru Forester when I don’t need it (I’m trying to swap it for a 7-seater for group trips!). I’ll do my best to leave the car at home daily, carpooling with classmates so you can take the kids out. Our helper is there for support, and you’re welcome to use our home gym. Miaoli’s amenities make life easy and vibrant.
Let’s Connect!
We want a joyful, enriching experience for both our families, so let’s arrange a video call to discuss our expectations, discipline approaches, and plans for 2025 or future sessions. Our goal is for all kids to feel safe, loved, and inspired. If you’re excited about joining us in Taiwan, message me with a bit about your family, your worldschooling philosophy, and why this swap feels right for you. Let’s make a memorable adventure for our kids! 🌟

Join us in the heart of Miaoli, Taiwan, for a rich cultural exchange that blends homeschooling, family connection, and Taiwanese traditions! We’re a Montessori-focused family—me, my husband, our energetic 4yo son Vulcan, and our sweet 1yo daughter Remi—living in a cozy home just 10 minutes from parks and 20 minutes from beaches. We’re excited to share our lifestyle with you while learning about your culture, especially during my Montessori Elementary Training from July 7–August 1, 2025.
Social Activities to Connect with Us and the Local Community
We’d love for you to dive into our daily rhythm of play and exploration! Our afternoons are spent at nearby parks, where Vulcan loves outdoor adventures and Remi tags along, often copying her big brother. You can join us for these playdates, meeting other local families in our small homeschooling group who share our passion for child-led learning. We also frequent Miaoli’s vibrant night markets, just a 10-minute walk away, where you can taste Taiwanese street food like bubble tea and stinky tofu while soaking in the lively atmosphere. On weekends, we often explore Hakka cultural festivals or take short drives to the beach for a splash in the waves—perfect chances to connect with our community and experience Taiwan’s traditions firsthand. If you’re up for it, you can use our Subaru Forester (we’re hoping to swap it for a 7-seater) to take the kids on outings, and I’ll join you after my training or work to share these adventures as a family.
Skills and Knowledge We Can Share
As a Montessori family, we’re eager to share our approach to child-led education and positive discipline. I’m in the midst of Montessori Elementary Training, so you’ll get a front-row seat to how we foster independence and curiosity in Vulcan and Remi through sensory play, practical life activities, and nature exploration. I can teach you Montessori techniques—like setting up engaging activities or redirecting high-energy kids like Vulcan, who loves his “dangerous” experiments (think climbing and tinkering)! We also practice English with the kids (Vulcan understands it but isn’t fluent yet), so if you’re a native speaker, you can help them grow their language skills through play and conversation. Plus, our domestic helper, who’s always around to assist, she loves chocolate, so you might bond over that!
You’ll also get to immerse yourself in Taiwanese culture through our daily life. We can introduce you to Hakka traditions, like their unique festivals and foods, and show you how to navigate Miaoli’s markets like a local. If you’re interested in outdoor activities, i can share tips on exploring Taiwan’s natural beauty, from beach trips to mountain hikes, all while keeping the kids entertained.
What We Hope to Learn from You
Hosting families from different cultures is such a joy for us because we’re eager to broaden our kids’ horizons and enrich our own perspectives. We’d love to learn about your traditions, whether it’s a special recipe from your home country, a holiday you celebrate, or a language you speak—Vulcan and Remi are curious little sponges, and I’m sure they’d be thrilled to pick up a few words or songs! Since we’re a Montessori family, we’re especially interested in how you approach education or play—maybe you have unique activities or parenting insights that we can incorporate into our routine. I’d also love to hear about your travels and cultural experiences, as we’re passionate about worldschooling and hope to inspire Vulcan and Remi to be global citizens. Most of all, we’re excited to build meaningful connections and create memories together, whether it’s over a shared meal at a night market or a playful afternoon at the park.
A Little More About the Experience
While I’m at my training (9 AM–6 PM, weekdays, and possibly some weekends), we’d appreciate your help looking after Vulcan and Remi, with our helper there to support you. It’s a collaborative setup—think of it as a family adventure where we all learn from each other. Our home has a gym for your use, and we have two friendly dogs who’d love some extra pats. We’re flexible with timing, and I’ll join you for outings whenever I’m free, ensuring we make the most of our time together. If the July 2025 dates don’t work, we’re open to hosting during my future training sessions in 2026 or 2027—let’s make it a cultural exchange to remember! 🌍Projects involving children
