    Description

We’re Sean and Josie, a couple in our mid-thirties living on our 10-acre property , just 1km from a quiet surfing beach. We moved here for the ocean, space and a slower pace of life, and are slowly getting on top of a big, nature-filled garden.
We’re looking for short-term help (1–2 weeks) with a mix of garden jobs like weeding, managing lantana and looking after fruit trees, plus some house cleaning to help keep things running smoothly. Nothing fancy or technical, just practical help.
We also have a maine coon kitty called Morticia, who'll win any dog-lover's and cat-lover's heart alike.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We open you into our home, We live in a quiet small town on the mid north coast NSW. We have done a lot of travelling and love to share stories and make life easier whilst travelling. We have many fruit trees on the property and you will learn how to process and preserve the fruits. We are continually doing creative projects on the property and you are more then welcome to learn our skills. We offer guests space and personal respect and request the same from you. It is a must that all guests keep communal areas tidy and clean up after themselves. This is not a party household.

    Help

    - Weeding, as plants grow crazy fast in this area we need some help keeping them at bay.
    - Managing lantana. We recently pulled a bunch of lantana out of our banana trees, and now need to pull out what's left.
    - House cleaning. We are in a quirky three bedroom house, and between the both of us working + keeping up with property maintenance, it would be amazing to get some help cleaning. As well as general weekly cleaning, it would be a great rainy day (or when it's too hot to be in the sun) job to clean kitchen cupboards, dust cobwebs from corners and deep cleaning tasks.
    - Looking after fruit trees. We would love to be giving our fruit trees more love with mulch, natural fertilisers, keeping down root suckers and possibly netting them.
    - General garden clean up. As mentioned, things grow quickly around here! We are often needing to mow the lawns around the house, slash the back paddock, whipper snip and brush cut. We also have a number of palm trees that continually drop fronds.

What you do will be tailored to suit individual skills and abilities. There is no work required involving cleaning for paying guests in our studio.

    Accommodation

You’ll have the spare room downstairs in the house with a comfy queen bed, private bathroom, parking space and easy access to beautiful surf beaches and nearby coastal towns. There is also a plunge pool in the backyard and good internet.

We provide all meals/ingredients, and keep things flexible around eating together or doing your own thing. Depending on the person, we would get you to help with kitchen clean up. If our studio (a separate dwelling) happens to be free, we may be able to offer that instead.
We’re happy to chat and share meals, but also totally understand everyone needs their own space sometimes. If you like being outdoors, don’t mind getting your hands dirty, and enjoy coastal life, this may be a vibe 🙂 It's also a great stop in travelling up/down the east coast.

We would love your help for 4-5 hours a day, five days a week in exchange for accomodation and meals. We will provide 3 nourishing meals a day 7 days a week, and are happy to work with dietary requirements 🙂
It would be great to share meal prep and clean up when that's possible, and learn cooking from each other. We love whole foods and slow cooked foods!
We love good food and will provide your meals, and are happy to cater for dietary requirements - Josie used to work in a yoga retreat kitchen!

Having a car here is ideal. Our closest beach is a 15 minute walk away. The closest town is a 5 minute drive, and a town with a little more going on in terms of cafes/people is 15 minutes drive away. If you are coming by train we can pick you up from Eungai station, which is 15 minutes by car to our place. We are a 50 minute drive to Bellingen that has more live music and beautiful events on.

We have starlink wifi which is very good because Josie works from home and needs to make video calls/upload/download heavy files. In terms of a work space for you, you are welcome to use any of the communal areas (dining room table, coffee table, outdoor undercover table) as the spare bedroom doesn't have space for a desk.

    Morticia (2 years)

Morticia is a beautiful ex breeding maine coon. She may look like a miniature lion, but this not so little kitty loves company and is most often found curled up next to or walking along side one of us.
