    Description

We are a family of four living in Hamilton. We have hosted Workawayers before and really enjoyed meeting people from around the world. We stopped hosting while we moved house and are now ready to welcome Workawayers again.

Tash works in organisational change and change management, while Peter is a primary school technology teacher. We have two boys who enjoy sport, cooking and games.

We have recently moved into our new home and have lots of projects to do. We are renovating the house, improving the gardens, having our swimming pool relined and having a new deck built.

Peter has chronic fatigue, so his energy can change from day to day. Some days he can work with you and other days he needs to rest. Because of this, you need to be self-motivated and happy to work independently. We will show you what needs to be done, but we may not always be able to work beside you.

We are a non-smoking family and ask that Workawayers are non-smokers too.

We eat mainly vegetarian food, with some chicken and fish.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We enjoy meeting people from different countries and sharing everyday New Zealand family life.

Peter is a primary school technology teacher and enjoys DIY, making and creative projects. We are also happy to learn new skills, recipes and ideas from our Workawayers.

We have two boys, so you will experience life with a Kiwi family rather than just having a place to stay.

Hamilton is also a great base for exploring the Waikato, including Raglan, the Hakarimata Ranges and the central North Island.

  • Help

    Help

The jobs will depend on what we are working on during your stay.

Help may include gardening, property maintenance, installing cabinets, painting, DIY, organising things around the property and other small renovation tasks.

You do not need to be an expert. Being practical, independent and willing to have a go is more important.

We normally ask for around four hours of help per day in exchange for accommodation and meals.
