  • Description

    Hi There!

We're located in the beautiful Lake Chelan Valley, in the shadows of the Cascade mountains in North Central Washington State. Our family of 4 (and our dog Cyrus) escaped the city with a dream of growing medicinal herbs, fruit, vegetables and livestock while creating a place to practice the three permaculture ethics of earth care, people care, and fair share. We bought an amazing spot a few years back and we want to share it with you and get your help establishing our mainframe systems.

Our farm is fallow orchard land that is need of some serious TLC (tender loving care). We're still in the early stages of getting things set up, so this is an exciting time to help with the rebirth of an old farm. One of our big projects for 2019 is a collaboration with my mother, who is an herbalist, to begin producing value added products (like soap, tinctures, and hydrosols) from the herbs grown on the farm. We are excited to share our knowledge of herbs and host those interested in learning more about the cultivation and preparation of medicinal herbs for health and beauty.

We also need your help with gardening, construction projects, tending our chickens, harvesting and processing fruits, and vegetables and odd jobs around the farm. We're starting small, while our children are the same (6.5 & 2) and plan to expand as time and resources allow. This year brings plans to expand existing vegetable beds, establish new vegetable & medicinal herb beds, install an outdoor shower and kitchen space, complete site prep and survey for a 2020 food forest/herb labyrinth install, complete irrigation repair and improvements, and ongoing site prep for future campers/farmstay visitors, among many others.

People flock to this valley in the summer for the warm weather, beautiful lakes and the many orchards and wineries that the area is known for. We're located on the north shore of a small fishing lake, within walking distance of two wineries, biking distance of many more and 3.5 miles along a scenic bike route to the nearest small town and regional bus lines. The farm has two kayaks and a small sail boat available, and with some work we can improve the lake access on the property to accommodate them. A small creek runs along the property and offers wonderful shady spots to explore. Locally, Lake Chelan is the big attraction with people coming to vacation, boat, fish and visit the valley's 30 vineyards. Regionally, the area is known for its outdoor recreation opportunities including paragliding, hiking, rock climbing, swimming, boating, rafting, skiing, fishing, hunting, etc.

Experience with farming, gardening, construction or land restoration are a plus but not necessary. A willing spirit, an open mind, and a tolerance for warm weather in the summer are all that's requested.
