Our rating is low because we have not been able to reply to your emails fast enough. We get many emails each month and many volunteers are not reading this profile completely.
    Thank you for your help.

We are a small rainforest retreat in the Diamanté Valley.
Our goal is to update the buildings and farm so that we can continue hosting permaculture, wellness and other educational retreats. Our philosophy includes sustainable living by utilizing permaculture techniques, protecting the forest that surrounds us, and participating in our local economy.

We hope to attract cool, calm, creative types .. Due to the lack of privacy and shared bathrooms this work-trade is best suited for mature/relaxed people between the ages of 25 to 55 years. We accept both men and women solo travelers and couples. Preference is given to non-smokers. Either English or Spanish is necessary.

Our post here is for volunteers. please note, we are actively seeking homesteaders for long term living as well as short term volunteers.. Be sure to state which one you are requesting.

Our location is REMOTE ... you should be an enthusiastic walker, walking is your main form of transportation. There is a bus system but it is a far to the closest stop. We ask you to arrive to Tinamastes for your arrival where we can pick you up. Our location is about 30 minutes from there. There is no bank or atm. You need to travel with a little food money. During your stay you mainly rely on your own energy to go out and explore the valley. It's worth it!

Please include your personal email address so we can send our volunteer packet to you. This will make things move along much faster.

We have no intention of working you to death. We want you to enjoy and have pride in the work you do here. We are looking for people with skills in construction, rock walls, plumbing, landscaping, roofing, furniture making, cabinetry, tile work... Please mention all skills that you think might be helpful when you email us. You will need to arrive with your own bedding, bug/sun lotion, work gloves, work shoes and flashlight. There is a mattress to use under your sleeping roll.

We ask for a minimum of 2 weeks volunteering. Of course, if we're a great match we would like you to stay longer as long as we have space ..we could build another cabin! Homesteaders welcome with clear communication and planning.

Current projects include: building 3 new cabins, moving/ repairing outdoor kitchen, repurposing fallen cabin materials, tree houses postponed, constructing new greenhouse.. Lots To Do!

We live surrounded by tropical rain forests with toucans, hummingbirds, howler monkeys, tree frogs and much more to discover. We have many fruit trees including different bananas, mangos, star fruit, water apple and more on the property.

    Accommodation

Dorm style cabins or pitch your own tents in the grove near the rustic outdoor kitchen. Housing, wifi and yoga is included. Please note: basic meals are included but if you have special dietary needs please arrive prepared. There is a shared kitchen in the main building. No cooking is allowed in cabins. At this time, all volunteers will be staying near the coconut circle and sharing the outdoor kitchen and awesome rustic showers. We would love a volunteer who can manage/run the outdoor kitchen.

We live in the rainforest. It's a beautiful, picturesque environment, but not for the weak hearted. There are bugs. BIG bugs. There are geckos and howler monkeys. It is humid and hot. There is mold at times and when it rains it POURS. If you are a traveler who expects luxuries like air conditioning, late parties, catered privacy, no bug bites, carpeted rooms, perfect wifi, or resents performing your required tasks...then please do not apply. If you don't mind sweat, red mud, talking over a loud waterfall, hiking to the bathroom then this might be the place for you. Adventurers welcome!

** we are unable to accommodate families with children
**volunteers with animals will not be accepted
**volunteers must speak either English or Spanish
** volunteers must submit copy of passport prior to pickup

We are looking for helpful, kind and compassionate workers who are willing to pitch in and are self-motivated. Integration makes for the best experience! Your acoustic instruments are welcome, too, but not late at night.

    What else ...

During your free time you can relax in the hammocks on the yoga deck, sit near the waterfall and enjoy the birds. There is horse riding center about 20 mns away. Bring your mountain bike and there is plenty of hard riding. While you are here, there may be a class or full retreat taking place. We will let you know which classes you are invited to participate in. Most of all, we hope you stay involved. We don't want you to disappear into your cabin and spend all of your free time trying to find yourself.
Please include an email address so we can send our volunteer packet to you. This will make things move along much faster.
