Description
La orana! Hola! Hello! Hallo!
Have you ever dreamed of living on a boat in a tropical setting? If yes, this posting may be for you. I started sailing as a kid and owned various boats in the past. I sailed in Europe, America and Asia. In 2021 I purchased my current boat which is located in some of the best cruising grounds on earth - in French Polynesia. Since 2022 we are a couple, my girlfriend will be with us. You do not need to be a sailor or marine professional to join me, anyone can do it - you too! Safety is my #1 priority for the crew and the boat.
The boat is overall in great shape and is seaworthy. However, like all boats frequent maintenance is required. Those tasks are optional for you.
What else:
You are responsible for your own travel arrangements including visas, Covid tests and airfare.
No smoking of any kind, including cigarettes and e-cigarettes or anything else medical or not.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We require a 1 months minimum stay up to 3 months this time around. Since we will be living together every day your tasks will be spread out over the entire week.
Tasks be as follows:
Cooking, shopping, sweeping, cleaning floors/cabinets, laundry and washing dishes. Rinsing the deck and other boat maintenance depending on your interests. We may have extra projects for you to do as well.
It would be helpful if you can operate the dingy by yourself so you can go to shore for shopping or similar. This is easy to learn, we just go together a few times and you will get a hang of it.
We cook and eat relatively healthy with all meals prepared from scratch. We prefer to share our meals together with our guests. Half of our meals are plant based, most are vegetarian friendly but some contain meat or fish. We still slip sometimes mostly when away from home but a vegetarian or vegan helper is preferred. We are eager to learn from you new dishes! That said, we are on a boat and possibly harvest fish or lobsters for consumption.
Travel expenses to Tahiti and obtaining a visa (if applicable) are your responsibility. We will meet you at the Tahiti airport (PPT) and do the ferry ride with you should the boat be located at a different island.Languages

I want to learn French, I am still at a very low level. I also would like practice and improve my Spanish. I am a native German speaker and lived about half my life abroad speaking English.Accommodation
You will have your own room/cabin and your dedicated bathroom unless discussed prior your arrival. We are self-sufficient, that means we need to produce our own water and power. You will need to be mindful with the use of resources. Internet access is usually available. You will always be able to send a text message to family or friends via satellite even if we are outside cell range independent of Internet access.
What else ...
For entertainment the possibilities are endless and include hiking, diving, fishing, projects for fun and of course sailing. Please keep in mind that the lifestyle includes sailing but we will be a lot of times at anchor. For example we ready the boat and stock up with food for 2 or 3 days. Afterwards we will head out on a voyage of a few hours up to several days. When we arrive at the destination we will drop anchor or pick up a mooring and spend two weeks or more at the "new" island. The cruising community is very welcoming and it easy to meet new people. It often just takes minutes to be invited or invite someone to come over.
A little more information

Limited internet access
We have pets
We are smokers
Can host families
Can host digital nomads
The boat has Starlink which runs for about 12-16 hours a day and is down at night to conserve energy. We pay for usage, so no streaming or movie downloads. No video uploads for your vlog. Email and Facebook is fine. If you require a lot of data please bring your own setup. Since we are using the service somewhat outside the contract you probably should not bet your livelihood on it. So far it worked 100% but it may just stop without warning.
