    Description

We are a family with two children. Boys aged 4 and 15. Our home is located in lovely Lillesand, just next to a mixed needle- and leaf tree forest. We have a boat that we use when the weather is nice. Sometimes we go to one of the many small islands outside the shore of Lillesand where we go camping. Owais is a good cook. He is from Kashmir, and likes to make traditional Kashmiri cuisine with a modern twist. Birgitte believes cakes are a necessity of life, thus she likes to bake.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We appreciate living in an environment fostering continuous learning. Our family is a relatively calm and quiet one. Our small farm is part of a farm which used to belong to our family many generations back. In our home we have a good share of antique furniture, because we admire the skills and efforts it has taken to make it by hand. We are very fond of animals and nature, so we treat our cat Tiara as a member of the family. Our goals in life include good aesthetic experiences, harmonic family life and creating a place where we may truly feel being at home.

First of all we need help with our sheep. They are very sweet! We have an old breed known as the sheep vikings used to keep. We need help with the daily work as well as help during lambing season etc. Birgitte is on disability pension due to chronic pain. Last year she went through chemotherapy and radiotherapy due to breast cancer stage 2. Therefore her physical health is a daily challenge. As Owais is working full time, Birgitte needs help maintaining the house. It would also be nice to have some help with little Adam who is 3 years old. He loves playing outside when he is not in kindergarten thus he would be very grateful if a grown up were eager to play with him! The kids have a tree house with a terrace which we are planning to improve.
We do have a wonderful garden but it desperately needs to be taken care of. There is an overall plan of how we want to create a dedicated place for vegetables, fruits and herbs. However this has become a bit overwhelming to keep up with. Last year we planted ginko biloba and figs. This year we hope to plant much more and to make the garden a beautiful place to spend time.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We have two cars, leaving one spare when Owais is at work. Just outside the doorstep there are virtually miles and miles of forest tracks. There is also a frisbeegolf track. Within 1 kilometre there is a swimming hall, a small cinema, a museum and the pittoresque town of Lillesand with white wooden houses. Only 10 minutes drive away you will find the fascinating Kristiansand Zoo and a water park. At the same location there is a high quality equestrian riding centre and a large shopping mall among other things.
You may go for bicycle rides, go fishing or go to one of the local training centres. Kristiansand airport Kjevik is 30 minutes away by car. The same is Kristiansand Railway Station and the Colorline ferry going to Hirtshals, Denmark.
