We are seeking a couple with technical and managerial experience in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry and with cooking skills for a continuous working relationship with residence.
🐄 With more than 17 hectares, currently has a vegetable garden and orchard that is cultivated without the use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. The ancient olive grove, of about 800 trees, is fertilized exclusively through the free grazing of a Cinisara cow, two donkeys, a mare, and various hens.
There are also hospitality facilities.
Living/sleeping accommodations are provided and a farmhouse kitchen is undergoing expansion.
📋 We are looking for an organized couple who is capable of managing all of these activities.
The farm is located in a striking environment at the foot of Mount Inici (Site of Community Importance), in Castellammare del Golfo (Sicily, Italy). It is an organic farm which emphasises a Permaculture approach to agriculture through the synergy between animals, land and humans in order to enhance functional diversity and biological fertility of the eco-system. We have an experimental approach to the rural area where we live, implementing multidisciplinary planning of the following activities: agriculture, self built natural building, shared learning experiences, hosting artists in creative spaces including a recording studio

The farm would promote a social and educational approaches based on :
Self-building to encourage a process of identification between people and the place where they live;
Non formal education- Experiential learning bringing people work together and learning by doing methods and technique to build sustainable house;
Social relationship creating moments of human and cultural exchanges.
The main learning objectives of the train:
O.1 The effectiveness of constructed wetland for household water wast treatment.
Description : the trining aims to acquire knowledge and personal capability to mitigate the environmental impact by improving household wastewater treatment.
Usually, household wastewater can contain contaminants that degrade water quality for such uses as drinking, stock watering, food preparation and cleaning. A properly installed and maintained system for treating and disposing of household wastewater will minimize the impact of that system on ground water and surface water.
The training consist on building two evapotranspiration tanks in existing houses.
O.2 Build together a new green building
Description: the train aims to acquire practical knowledge on how to build a green house in a rural area recycling and use local materials.
For 2021/2022 we would like to enhance the field of natural building starting with a "sustainable worksite” in which the volunteers will be involved in a realization of water waste treatment systems for existing houses and in the construction of a new natural house.
