    Description

We are a colourful family of 4, plus our beloved dog. I was born in Australia, my husband was born in Germany, and our two beautiful children aged 10 and 7 years (adopted as babies), were born in Australia but have different biological cultural / ethical heritage. We live nestled in the trees of Bellbrae, close to Bells Beach, on the surf coast of Victoria. We live in a cosy home with a wood fire, open kitchen and lounge, windows all across the front of the house looking out onto the large deck and into the trees – people say they feel like they are in a treehouse when they’re here.

A little bit about my us…Both my partner and I have travelled extensively in our younger years in South East Asia, Nepal, around Australia and Germany and parts of Europe. We continue to love to be away in the mountains during school holidays or travelling along the coast. In 2022/23 we spent 16 months away, initially travelling in Australia for 2 months before flying to Germany and living there for 14 months. Given the cross-cultural ties, it is important to us to maintain a strong connection with our family and friends in Germany. Both children are bilingual, and fluent in both German and English.

We love being outdoors and active in nature and spend as much time as we can at the beach or in the bush. When at home we love working in the garden and growing our own vegies. My husband is a naturopath and lecturer, and I am a clinical Child and Family Therapist specifically working with complex childhood trauma. We’re both musical and try hard to have a good balance in life of fun and work.

We have gained so much life experience from travelling so much ourselves and had many generous families offer their homes to us in exchange for help around the place and we want to offer the same. We feel like we live in such a beautiful part of Victoria and want to share this with others.

Within a short 5 min drive there are plenty of beaches where you can go swimming, surfing or walking, or access the bush for walks or bike rides. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars with live music in Torquay (10 min drive away) and being located at the beginning of the famous great ocean road, you can easily access all the iconic sites and popular tourist destinations from here. The train station to get into Melbourne City is only a 20min drive from here and it’ll take approximately an hour from there to get into Melbourne where you can access all there is to offer.

We’re a fun and loving family who enjoy being with people and would welcome the support and learning opportunity for you and for us in having this time together.

I require support specifically in June / July this year 2025 when my husband and son will be in Germany for 6 weeks. I am seeking a German female who has experience with children. There will be some evenings that I need to work, when you will need to be with my daughter. This will involve having fun and creative time together, as well as support with German homework, reading, having dinner together and putting her to bed. I will also need help within the household such as cooking, doing dishes and some cleaning in the house and working in the garden.

I work from home 4 days a week (2 days 9 – 3pm and 2 days 2pm – 9pm) and the consultation space will be shared between us whilst you are here. It will mean that you won’t have access to the downstairs area whilst I am working. The bathroom is also used by clients, so it will need to be kept in a clean state. During the time I am working, you will be welcome to be in any other part of the house and garden. And when I am not working, downstairs will be all yours.

The downstairs living area is private and comfortable and has a gorgeous outlook onto the garden and distant rolling hills. It has its own little veranda with a couch, a perfect spot to sit and relax.
