  • Description

I have a nubian goat farm (about 60 goats) in the Gatineau Hills (Wakefield, Quebec) just north of Ottawa,Ont. It is in a beautiful setting and private. There are horses, cows, goats, goose, chickens, peacocks and farm and pet dogs. The house is heated by wood alone and is somewhat rustic and very relaxed in the tidy department. I don't leave often but the nearest town of Wakefield has many activities and entertainment (15 min drive). I feel that animals be treated respectfully as with any other living thing. I make goat milk soap (in my kitchen) for profit and I am running the farm by myself and would very much welcome help. If you prefer house cleaning, I welcome you, it needs you. If you prefer outdoor work, I welcome you……or a bit of both. In return, you will learn about goat husbandry, and the goat milk soap business as well as enjoy the beautiful Gatineau Hills.
🌎As of January /2018 I will be looking for help with bottle feeding goat kids, bringing in firewood, feeding hay, watering goats, some cooking/cleaning would be nice.
I have a 2 week minimum but if all goes well, I am very open to a longer stay.

A traveler will get a very realistic idea of what it takes to run a homestead/farm. The joy of goats and breathing fresh air. life and death. kidding, in early winter /spring. Soap business. goat business.

  • Help

Most of the help I am looking for would be related to farming ...fencing, feeding/water animals. Cleaning stalls. Depending on the time of year (kidding, goats), firewood chopped piled. Carpentry skills a plus. As well some help in the house with cooking/dishes/cleaning. Tractor (old one) experience is great too :)
Joining me selling soap at local market is welcomed but not required if the interest is not there.
Indoor help, my house could really use organizing and cleaning. I love it to be clean but life has become busy.

    What else ...

I am not far from the Gatineau river, as well as the village of Wakefield (music, restaurants) . There are many hiking trails in the local Gatineau park and a hundred acres of my land to explore :)
The farm is about 40 min from Ottawa. I go in about once every second week but 95% of time I am on the farm.
