    Description

A farm in Drăgușeni - my native village where I returned with my family after working abroad. It's me, my wife and two kids. I returned from Italy in 2015 after several personal development and permaculture books. I was new to agriculture but I wanted to do permaculture in a place where I am already the 5th generation of the Niculita family doing agriculture. This is where we first started producing food for the family. And we managed to reach 90% self-sufficiency. In 2015 I also started studies in the field of agriculture to know exactly what and how to do it. At the moment, our household is in the ecological circuit. We have 9 plots, 6 of them are with field crops: onion, potato, all organized according to botanical family to have a complete 7-year crop rotation. A field is lying dormant, alfalfa is planted there, and in the second year we will put chickens there, which will enrich the soil with fertilizer. This year we introduced chickens to increase this level of autonomy, to make it a closed cycle. They eat the weeds, but they still need to be tended to. So we are still learning how to work with them more effectively. In order to provide the family and others with as diverse a basket as possible, we produce 30-35 crops throughout the year to have seasonal crops and to have year-round sales. Now we also have greenhouses, we have increased our sales capacity. We have fruit from March with greens until November and December when we have potatoes and root vegetables (carrot, beet, leek, garlic), 4 types of onion, kale, cauliflower, broccoli. We sell products directly to the consumer through two channels: home delivery and market.

Wwoofers can participate in various activities related to production and realization: from sowing, seedling, preparation of compote, to the realization of products at the farmers' market organized once a week in Chisinau. At the same time, guests can participate and learn how to preserve agricultural products and prepare traditional Moldovan dishes. At our place we managed to develop different partnerships and collaborations in the local community, but also with the private sector to provide the farm with organic fertilizer - this is an experience and knowledge that we can pass on to wwofers.

At the moment we have space for tents, next to it is a summer kitchen with all the necessary equipment. We also have 2 bedrooms available in the house where we live. The farm offers everything for a balanced diet, and we propose a mixed regime, where part of the meals are cooked by the wwofers, but some are cooked and served together with us.

A day here can start with activities on the farm, and continue with walks in the woods, which are very close to our homestead. It is an extremely picturesque and beautiful place. There may also be a day where we go together to the neighbors to collect organic matter for compost.

We like to walk and bike, invite other producers to us, and go to them (especially in the summer). We love to connect with nature and observe it. In addition, Chisinau is quite close to us, and it still offers a lot of possibilities to have as rich an experience as possible.
