    Description

We’re a couple in our early 40s living just outside Cork City, Ireland, in a peaceful and beautiful rural area surrounded by open fields, trees, and wildlife. If you're looking for a quiet escape close to nature but still within reach of the city, this is the perfect spot.

We’re currently renovating our home and working full-time in other jobs, so we're looking for some extra help to bring our vision to life. Our main focus for the summer is landscaping, creating a vegetable garden, and building a pond to encourage even more biodiversity around the house.

We love this place because of its serenity and the connection to the land. It’s truly rewarding to watch things grow and evolve, and we’d love to share that experience with someone who appreciates nature and simple, meaningful projects.

Our home is gay-friendly, inclusive, and open to all respectful, open-minded people. We value kindness, creativity, and a good sense of humor, and we aim to create a relaxed and welcoming environment for everyone who stays with us.

You’ll have the opportunity to learn practical skills, enjoy the fresh country air, and be part of a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're experienced or just enthusiastic, you're welcome here.

We can accommodate 1 person or a couple, as there is only a double bed available.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Staying with us is not just about lending a hand, it's also about sharing experiences, learning from each other, and enjoying meaningful cultural exchange.

We speak both Spanish and English as native languages, so there’s a great opportunity to practice or improve your language skills, no matter your level. We also speak French and Gaeilge. If you're interested in landscaping, gardening, or DIY projects, we’re more than happy to share what we’ve learned as we work on shaping the land and renovating our home. We also love chatting about the history of the local area, and we’ll be glad to show you some of the hidden gems around our countryside.

Food is an important part of our daily life, and we enjoy cooking and sharing meals together, maybe even swapping some favorite dishes from your home country.

We’re excited to host people from different backgrounds and cultures, and we look forward to learning from your experiences, perspectives, and stories. Every Workawayer brings something unique, and we truly value the connections and friendships that can grow from this kind of exchange.

  • Help

    Help

We’re looking for friendly, hands-on people to help us with a few outdoor projects around our home. The help is varied and rewarding perfect if you enjoy being outside and getting your hands dirty. Right now, we're focusing on landscaping the garden, which involves clearing areas, planting flowers and shrubs, and shaping the land to create a more natural, welcoming space. We're also in the process of starting a vegetable garden, so help with preparing the soil, planting, and maintaining the garden would be greatly appreciated. Another exciting project is building a small pond to encourage wildlife, which includes digging, shaping, lining, and planting around the area. You don’t need to have any specific experience, just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. We are working full time but we will work with you in our spare time and will guide you through each step of the way.

We speak Spanish and English at home, so if you're looking to practice either of those languages, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to do so in a relaxed, everyday setting. We’re eager to learn Italian and improve our French, so if you’re a native speaker, or even just learning, we’d love to practice with you and make it part of our daily conversations.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You’ll be staying in a detached house with a large garden, set in a peaceful rural area just outside Cork City. The house is surrounded by nature, offering a quiet and relaxing atmosphere with plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors.

You’ll have your own private bedroom with a double bed, roughly 9 square meters in size. The toilet is shared, and we share the kitchen and living areas as part of a friendly, communal household. We want you to feel at home and welcome you to enjoy meals and downtime together.

Please note that some parts of the house are under renovation, so things might be a bit rustic in places, but the essential spaces are fully functional. We’re making steady progress, and your help will be a part of that journey!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

In your free time, there’s plenty to explore and enjoy in the local area. We’re just a 20-minute walk from Blarney, home to the famous Blarney Castle and Gardens. If you're in the mood for something livelier, Cork City is easily accessible and full of things to do, from markets and museums to live music and cozy pubs.

There’s a local bus that runs roughly every hour, and the stop is about 20 minutes from the house on foot. We’re also happy to help with pickups or drop-offs at the bus stop—or even into the city—when it suits our schedule. We also have a bicycle available for you to use, which makes getting around the countryside or to town a bit quicker and more fun. If you love walking or ciclying, you'll really enjoy the peaceful country roads and scenic fields right on our doorstep.

As for house life, we try to keep things simple, respectful, and relaxed. We share meals when it works for everyone, clean up after ourselves, and value open communication. There’s no smoking indoors, and we just ask that everyone treats the space with care. It’s important to us that this feels like a welcoming and inclusive space for everyone.

We’re happy to host digital nomads who want to balance remote work with helping out around the house and garden. One of us works from home as well, so we understand the need for a quiet, reliable space to get things done. We have a stable internet connection that supports video calls, online work, and streaming, so you’ll be able to stay connected without any trouble. The daily tasks here are flexible and can usually be arranged around your remote work schedule, so you’ll have time to focus on your job while still contributing meaningfully to our projects.
