Description
We're working to turn our house into a vibrant co-living. Our goal is to create meaningful connections and offer a lifestyle that feels truly fulfilling. Highlights will eventually include: a yoga shala, ceramics studio and creative space, regular family dinners cooked in our large community kitchen, community skill-shares, surf equipment, outdoor space with a fire pit, sauna, and hot tub, and much more!
We are two Americans - yoga teacher, amateur cooks, surfers, and software engineers - who have lived in Portugal for 5 years. Plus a fluffy little pup named Paddington. We're both outgoing and love sharing, learning, and teaching. We're dedicated travelers who fell in love with the idea of community and shared living space to enable a joyful and sustainable lifestyle.
We are looking for volunteers to help cultivate community and help us maintain our personal home (some light cleaning and maintenance). We're also looking for someone to join our team to support us officially, as a member of our team.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We offer a beautiful house in Ericeira, Portugal, just steps from the coast, where workawayers can get some sun and surf. We love to cook and will share beautiful meals. We also offer the affection of the snuggliest puppy, Paddington. We're beginning to pull together a quiver of surfboards and wetsuites. We can also share vinyasa yoga classes. Once the ceramics studio, sauna, and hot tub are complete, those will be available to workawayers as well!

Help
Volunteers:
The only required skills are to be organized, clean, and an interest in being social with other people in the home. We are going to be putting in a garden that will be ~10 square meters next to our home, so helping us plan and do light outdoor help for that. We also have a part of our property that we are going to be putting furniture and making look nicer over the summer/fall. We offer free accommodation (a private bedroom with a shared bathroom and shared kitchen) in exchange for 20 hours of help per week. We're looking for 2-3 month committments.
Staff: You can find out more on our website. Ask for the address.
We've had many Workawayers and staff over the last year and from our experience, we're looking for someone who genuinely loves being part of a community — and helping it thrive. Besides a genuine and enthusiastic energy, we are really looking for people who have some form of professional or project-based experience that demonstrates your ability to work independently, manage your time well, meet deadlines, and take ownership of tasks from start to finish. You’re comfortable with self-management and don’t need constant direction to stay on track.

Nick and Carolyn are great hosts and found a lot of other nice workawayers from all over the world that I stayed with. I had my own bedroom and two meals a day, the work was very interesting and I got to do a lot of carpentry stuff and after work there was always time to spend time with… read more
