Description
Hello Workawayers! I have a small and very characterful house in a former fishing village about 30 minutes from Amsterdam. The house is in a quaint old part of town, but a few steps away from the lively harbour with lots of bars, cafes and music. It's a fully renovated house with a small, private garden backing onto the 'village pond' with many ducks, swans, moor hens and other water birds. It's a lot of fun in Volendam ... many people who come here prefer it to Amsterdam :-)
If you come here you will have your own room, but we will share the bathroom and kitchen. You need to be clean, tidy and discrete, as am I. I might go away and leave you the house to yourself for afew days.
PLEASE READ THE HELP REQUIRED SECTION BEFORE CONTACTING ME AND LET ME KNOW YOU HAVE UNDERSTOOD THE WORK REQUIRED . THANK YOU.
If you only come for 3 - 4 days you won't have a day off, but you only need to help 2 - 3 hours a day.
If you come for a week you can have 2 days off per week and help 4 - 5 hours per day.
I prefer it if you come only for 3 - 4 days, because that is what I really need.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
Help required between 15th and 23rd December ONLY. Please write this in your message to me.
I am packing up my lovely home before 23rd December and moving away. I need to put things in boxes and bring the boxes to my car and a storage location, and do some trips to the local tip. Also some tidying up / cleaning in the house and garden.
The tasks will be a bit 'ad-hoc'; but I anticipate it is only 2 - 3 hours per day, maybe less. I only require someone for a few days (maximum 1 week).
I can provide 2 meals a day, that is breakfast and lunch or dinner, but you may have to help yourself from my kitchen.
I can only accommodate 1 workawayer. The tasks are not hard but I need someone who is strong and dependable.
Most likely you will be aged at least 25 years old and will have good reviews, references or feedback online.
We will share a small house together during your stay so I need to know what kind of person you are, before I invite you. Thanks.Languages spoken

Accommodation
Your own bedroom in the house; we would share the bathroom and the rest of the house.
What else ...
30 minutes by regular bus to Amsterdam.
Lots of other very beautiful, historic and interesting towns to explore, such as the port of Hoorn; Alkmaar (a mini-Amsterdam) and Edam, which you can reach by walking along the dyke for about 1 hour (or cycle in 15 minutes). Ferry trip to the island of Marken. Windmills (Zaanse Schans), Tulips (in the spring) and many local waterways.
Volendam is also known as a musical town; there are 2 concert halls right in the town and there is frequently live music in a local bar.A little more information

This was the first time I went on a trip like this. I was lucky enough to meet Anna and stay with her for a short time. I was able to use all the comforts of home, and Anna provided me with everything I needed since I was traveling with only a backpack. We also had dinner together in the evenings and I could… read more
