    Description

Hi, I'm Johnny! My home is in a friendly and safe neighbourhood in East Auckland, Botany, not too far from the airport. There is a large mall a few minutes walk away, and close to public transport.

There are some lovely walks nearby, parks and sandy beaches. The house is shared with my female Japanese flatmate, who is a friendly and sociable.

You will have your own sunny bedroom with queen sized bed. The location is a great base when you first arrive in Auckland, to get everything sorted for a longer trip throughout NZ. I have been welcoming travellers and couchsurfers for many years (hosted over 50+!) I love meeting new people, learning about their cultures and hearing their travel stories.

I enjoy a cultural exchange, and find extended stays allow both participants to develop a deep understanding of each others culture, different ways of living and new ways of seeing the world. When I have some time off, I usually take my guests to some local beaches, markets and try to show them some highlights of the city.

I run a gourmet donut business from home, and don't have much time for my garden - which needs some love! Aside from this, there are a few household tasks that I need a bit of help with, mostly light cleaning and tidying.

I am a born and raised Kiwi, have lived in Auckland most of my life. I can help you with local knowledge and explain our customs and how to get the most out of your stay here! I've hosted alot of couchsurfers over the years and have helped them get set up for travel, get vehicles, find paid work, given them recommendations of places to go and where to stay.
My Japanese flatmate can give some knowledge about her culture and her time in New Zealand, especially her visa, finding work etc.

I run a small food business from home, and don't have much time for my garden - which needs some love! Light help needed, mostly planting and tidying up the garden.
Aside from this, there are a few household tasks that I would appreciate some help with, to help me from getting snowed under.

I enjoy hanging out with my guests, so if I have time I can possibly take you to some nice beaches, walks/hiking, local landmarks. I also love Latin dancing (salsa and bachata) so you are welcome to join me at beginnner classes or dance nights!

There is a beautiful Buddhist temple a short walk away, which is a highlight of the area.

Another highlight is a walking track which takes you through farmland, down into a boardwalk estuary and onto a small secluded sandy beach.
Another walk takes you to a stunning viewpoint over the city, which is ideal for watching the sunset.

There is a marina a short drive away, which can take you to some nearby islands in the Hauraki gulf, which is highly recommended.
