    Description

Hi travelers, my name is Loreto, and I live in Valle de Elqui, Chile, in the village of Villaseca. I work in tourism through my astronomy-focused business. We offer outdoor stargazing activities, such as hikes and expeditions. Together with my mother, we also manage a cozy rural bnb accommodation.
My family consists of three people: my 19-year-old son, my mother, and me. We also have three very adorable dogs and a cat, who is like my baby. If you love animals, you’ll enjoy spending time with them. At home, we have a spacious garden where we share meals and enjoy evenings around a firewood bonfire

The volunteer will gain a unique experience by immersing themselves in the local culture, including traditional food, customs, and ancestral knowledge. They will also deepen their understanding of astronomy through guided tours, stargazing sessions, and the chance to learn about the constellations and celestial phenomena. Additionally, during their free time, the volunteer will have the opportunity to explore other destinations in the region, discovering the natural beauty and cultural richness of the area. This is a perfect opportunity for anyone passionate about learning, nature, and the stars.

We have an astronomy hiking program scheduled for December 29. The activity will be conducted in two languages: Spanish and English. The traveler will be responsible for simultaneous translation during the activity.
Before the event, the traveler must familiarize themselves with the necessary information. I will provide the training, which will last approximately two weeks. During this time, you will participate in other tours to learn the information, stories, structure, and preparation of the activity.
When there are no tours, you will complete the agreed-upon hours by helping with household tasks, such as taking care of the garden or cleaning and bathroom, especially if we have guests.
The volunteer must be responsible and respectful. Above all, they must honor the agreement and respect the established terms.

This host offers a language exchange
I enjoy language exchange as part of the volunteering experience. I love teaching Spanish and, at the same time, learning from native speakers of other languages. It’s a rewarding way to connect and share cultures. For this reason, the volunteer must be a fluently English speaker.
