    Description

My partner and I have are starting an aquaponics farm in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. Our 100 square meter greenhouse is almost finished and we have an additional area of 1000 square meters that we are working on preparing for more planting. We are in the process of planting.. yes planting in November. We are a warm climate and our growing season is during the winter. The summer is too hot to grow.

My partner James has 20 years experience in hydroponics and working on his 3rd year with aquaponics. This is our first year attempting to do a commercial system. Learning lots. We look forward to sharing what we have learned and learning from others!

San Carlos is primarily a retirement/vacation community of only 4,000 people. If you like outdoor activities like mountain biking, kite boarding, scuba diving or hiking... this is the place for you! Lots of English speaking people as well as plenty of opportunity to work on your Spanish!

Feel free to check me out on Facebook... Loads of pictures.

San Carlos Mexico is located 5 hours south of Tucson Arizona on the Sea of Cortez. Our community is primarily retired expats from Canada and US. So you really dont' need to speak Spanish. However, there is a Mexican city (which is our Municipality) nearby called Guaymas. Our area is well know for world class scuba diving. We are part of the Sonoran desert so it is hot in the summer. Generally Aug and Sept are the hottest, other months are beautiful.

There is a wide range of ages in our community and whatever you are thinking of doing there is always someone ready to join you. We are a very fun community with loads of thing that welcome volunteers.
