    Description

We live in a beautiful part of West Cork, located on the stunning Mizen head peninsula, with wonderful beaches, hidden coves and mountain walks overlooking the Sheeps Head Peninsula with its numerous marked walks and unspoiled nature. Nestled in a tranquil rural location, but conveniently located 5km from the village of Durrus, and 15km from the vibrant villages of Schull, Ballydehob and the bustling town of Bantry (with public transport).

We are an easy-going couple with an 12 year old daughter and we enjoy meeting people and sharing experiences. We have two friendly dogs, who spend a lot of the time outside as well as with us in the house. We have lived in different countries, and two years ago decided to move from the city to live and work in this beautiful part of Ireland.
We live in an old farmhouse that we have partially renovated and have a few acres of land with lots of mature trees, bushes, meadows and fields and a stream with a waterfall. We need help to maintain our land and property as we are continually clearing out, reclaiming and developing it.

If you want to live and help with satisfying work in an inspiring place, surrounded by beautiful meditative nature, explore mountains, beaches and unspoiled nature close by, learn how to build a Tipi, practice English and Serbian language, practice some Yoga and enjoy good food and company, don’t hesitate to contact us for further inquiries.

    Help

We are looking for serious and enthusiastic helpers who enjoy outdoor work and activities with practical skills like gardening, general building maintenance, carpentry (who preferably can use power tools), cooking and cleaning. We need help to maintain our land and property as we are continually clearing out, reclaiming and developing it. Depending of the time of the year your tasks might include gardening/landscaping, painting, woodwork, construction projects, cutting firewood, remove waste, cleaning, restoring. If you enjoy cooking, you can also help with preparing family meals and household chores. We are expecting puppies in May so we would need help with caring for them and our two dogs. In the winter/ early spring there is work around sowing flower and grass seeds and planting, stimming bushes and pruning the trees. In the summer we need help in the house and facilities with cleaning, cooking and tidying up.

We ask for 5 hours work per day, 5 days a week and we will provide you with food and board. There is a kitchen with a cooker, fridge/ freezer and cutlery where your accommodation is so if you prefer you could provide and cook your own food for 3 hours work per day. We are not vegetarians but are happy to accommodate as much as we can.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You will have a private accommodation, located next to the main house where we live. It is a 3 room attic conversion and we have just refurbished it with new floors, insulation, paint and furniture. Ideally, we are looking for a couple or two friends. Depending on who comes we can lay it out as 1 bedroom and a sitting room with a galley kitchen or 2 separate bedrooms – both with great views of the Atlantic ocean and access to kitchen, laundry and toilet facilities downstairs.

We are happy to give you a lift to Bantry or other nearby places – we are driving to Schull on a daily basis for a school runs except during summer school break and doing our weekly grocery shopping in Bantry. There is public transport /bus lines in Bantry and Ballydehob. Cycling is also a very good option to move around as there is plenty to be seen around within a relatively short distance. We have bicycles available for the helpers to use during their stay.
