    Description

🌿 Live and learn agroforestry in the tropical jungle of Chiapas, Mexico

We are a regenerative space located in the tropical rainforest of southern Mexico, in the Soconusco region — an area known for its biodiversity and deep-rooted cacao culture.

Our farm is located in a small cacao-producing community, where most families are small-scale farmers dedicated to cacao. This gives a very local and authentic context to the experience, allowing you to understand not only the ecological side of agroforestry, but also its social and cultural dimensions.

we work with agroforestry systems, syntropic agriculture, and permaculture principles, mainly focused on cacao and diverse tropical crops.

We are a group of 5 partners who manage both the operational and administrative side of the project. Some of us live here permanently, while others come and go throughout the year, creating a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Jorge and Kim focus on agroforestry production and post-harvest processes, Pete and Hernando lead bioconstruction and hydrological design, León works on post-harvest, market access and sales, John is a field worker specialized in arboriculture, and Paloma manages social media while also working in the field with medicinal plants and vegetables.

We really enjoy the lifestyle we are building here — being close to nature, working with the land, and creating something meaningful as a team — and we love sharing that experience with others.

🌿 Cultural exchange and shared learning

We believe that the experience goes beyond the work itself. Life here is very much about sharing, learning, and connecting.

Workawayers will have the opportunity to spend time with our team and, at times, with people from the local community. This can include shared meals, visiting nearby rivers or waterfalls, going to local markets, or simply spending time together after the workday. Being in a cacao-producing community also opens the door to experiencing local traditions and ways of life in a very authentic way.

In terms of learning, we share practical knowledge on agroforestry, syntropic agriculture, cacao management and post-harvest, as well as basics of permaculture, natural building, and hydrological design. Most of the learning happens through hands-on experience in the field, combined with informal conversations where we explain the reasoning behind what we do.

At the same time, we are very interested in learning from the people who come here. Hosting people from different cultures brings new perspectives, ideas, and ways of seeing the world. Whether it’s skills, experiences, or simply stories, we value the exchange as something mutual.

For us, this is not just about hosting volunteers, but about creating a space where people can connect, learn from each other, and be part of something meaningful, even if just for a short time.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

🌿 Intercambio cultural y aprendizaje compartido

  • Help

    Help

We are looking for people interested in nature, regeneration, and simple living, who want to be part of a hands-on learning experience.

This is not just volunteering, it’s a learning opportunity. You will be involved in activities such as soil preparation, biomass management, planting, and agroforestry system design, understanding how regenerative systems are established from the ground up

Depending on the stage of the project, you may also participate in natural building activities (using bamboo, wood, and earth), as well as basic hydrological design of the land.

🌱 What makes this experience special:
living immersed in a natural environment surrounded by jungle and rivers, learning directly in the field, sharing with a small and close group, and being part of a real, evolving project.

    🍃 Benefits:
access to fresh, local and often organic food, many coming directly from the project, a peaceful and quiet environment ideal for disconnecting from city life, deep connection with nature, and practical knowledge you can apply to your own projects.

No previous experience is required, but a good attitude, willingness to work physically, and openness to learn are essential.

If you are interested in agroforestry, permaculture, or simply want to experience a different way of living closer to nature, this place is for you.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
