We are a new self sustaining tiny community where young sensitive people can feel that they can let go of tensions and blockages that have been build up in the urbanised society. We assist them to discover ways to use their sensitive qualities as something meaningful. From Januari 2021 we will built a barn/atelier. We are open for a hands-on type of volunteers, who are able to assist us in the realisation of of this building.
Jaap and Joanne bought a piece of land In the second half of 2017. Now we live together with 6 team members, some people who live permanently in our community, about 3 volunteers and on average 4 participants. The majority in our community are young adults. We have already a beautiful veggie and flower garden (outdoors and in a greenhouse), which makes us self sufficient for most of our veggies. We just finished our first community building, called 'the Lightship'. This building contains rooms for young adults who visit our project for a trajectory. And this building also functions as the heart of our community, where we cook and eat together. The team members and volunteers are sleeping in trailers, a gipsy wagon and yurts, which gives a special flavour to our community.
In summer 2020 we started the building of our new barn/atelier. This building is based on two shipping containers, which we will transform into a nice and light place where we can store tools, do woodworking, creative arts. The work in the beginning of 2021 is pretty basic: building walls, placing doors and windows, insulating the building, designing electricity, painting, etc. An interesting project. Feel free to apply for our project when you are a volunteer with some carpentry or construction skills. Also people who are not that experienced, but who are quick learners in this field are welcome. We prefer volunteers to stay for a minimum of 4 weeks, to give us an opportunity to to get used to each other, to build up a healthy and social community and to get a good balance between learning and adding to the project. When there is a right fit, we can assure that your stay will give you an amazing learning experience in community living and in construction.
Toilets and showers are available in the Lightship. We live close to a nice forest (hiking) and a big canal (swimming in summertime). There is place for a campfire to have cosy evenings together and you can join our daily yoga routines when you want so.

We are a young project. A lot of what we do is based on our own creative thinking. This includes shaping our property, as well as finding new ways for decision making and every day social interactions. We have learned a lot from trial and error and we are very open to the input and expertise of our volunteers.
Your main activities as a workaway will be the same as ours:
- Helping out with building our barn/atelier
- more incidentally working in our community vegetable and flower garden in both the greenhouse and the garden
- as community member, you take your share in cooking and cleaning
- enjoying nice moments together, sharing your stories, life visions, fun group activities

You sleep in a caravan or gipsy wagon. Contact us about availability of bedding. Sometimes we ask to bring your own sleeping bag. There is plenty of space outside. We share a big kitchen and living room for yoga, gatherings, cooking, eating and chatting together.
All food is shared, we eat vegetarian and partly vegan, and we eat almost 100% organic food, if possible from our own garden.
Good for you to know that this is a drug free community.
We live in Almere Oosterwold. An area were a lot of interesting new living projects are starting. We are amazed about the speed in which the houses are popping out of the ground. We are surrounded by families and communities who try to live in a more ecological and often more communal way. There is a small forest close by and a canal for swimming in warm summer days. We have a fire place outside for evening campfires, an original Italian pizza oven and a trampoline to challenge your acrobatic skills.
