    Description

Live to be is a small self sustaining community where young sensitive people can feel that they can let go of tensions and blockages that have been build up in the urbanised society. We assist them to discover ways to use their sensitive qualities as something meaningful. We are open for a hands-on type of volunteers, who are able to assist us in the garden, as well in building.

We are living together with 3 team members who are living permanently in our community. The majority in our community are young adults. We have a beautiful bio-dynamic vegetable garden (outdoors and in a greenhouse), which makes us self sufficient for most of the year.
We have a shared livingroom and kitchen, this building is called the lightship it contains rooms for young adults who visit our project for a period between 2 and 6 months. And this building also functions as the heart of our community, where we cook and eat together.

The team members and volunteers are sleeping in trailers, yurts and other places which gives a special flavour to our community.

Feel free to apply for our project!

We are looming for people with some carpentry or construction skills or some experience to work in the garden.
We prefer volunteers to stay for a minimum of 4 weeks, to give us an opportunity to to get used to each other, to build up a healthy and social community and to get a good balance between learning and adding to the project. When there is a right fit, we can assure that your stay will give you an amazing learning experience in community living and in a big variety of tasks which are related to community living.

Toilets and showers are available in the Lightship. We live close to a nice forest (hiking) and a big canal (swimming in summertime). There is place for a campfire to have cosy evenings together, we have a piano and several other instruments and you can join our weekky yoga routines when you want so.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a young project. A lot of what we do is based on our own creative thinking. This includes shaping our property, as well as finding new ways for decision making and every day social interactions. We have learned a lot from trial and error and we are very open to the input and expertise of our volunteers.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We live in Almere Oosterwold. An area were a lot of interesting new living projects are starting. We are amazed about the speed in which the houses are popping out of the ground. We are surrounded by families and communities who try to live in a more ecological and often more communal way. There is a small forest close by and a canal for swimming in warm summer days. We have a fire place outside for evening campfires, an original Italian pizza oven and a trampoline to challenge your acrobatic skills.
