Six years ago our family of four moved to Mexico to follow our dreams of a simpler life. We purchased 4 rental apartments in the Akumal Jungle, one of which we lived in for the first year. Since then we have expanded to 10 rental units, a main house/lodge/reception area and finally (!) this year a new house of our own. It has taken years of hard work and determination to get to where we now are and we realize the life we built has become anything but "simple".
We are looking for couples (or families!) to move into the main house to assist our guests during their stay. We need mature and responsible people willing to commit to the two months of July and August 2019. This involves not only reception duties but being involved and engaged with each guest during their stay to make sure they are happy, informed and comfortable. Assisting with breakfast set up. Driving for supplies. Communicating with cleaning staff. Your job is not room cleaning - but anything is possible and expected in an emergency.
We need bilingual english & spanish speakers. If you are learning and looking to improve your Spanish we are willing to consider you, but you must already be at an intermediate level.
Any other skill or hobby that you have is always considered an asset and will will give you tasks related to what you love to do!

Helping with Tourists
This is a great opportunity and learning experience for anyone looking to go into the hotel & tourism industry!
Our small hotel is a traveler's paradise with guests from all over the world. Meet new people and enjoy the Mayan Riviera while learning by doing! Running a hotel is so much more than handing over a key - we are constantly reinventing, building, fixing, improving. The experience is for the most part easy and fun, it can be at times stressful and unsettling.
Dealing with guests / check-in, check-out and every minor emergency in between.
English Dutch (native) Spanish - Intermediate!
Room for 2 with king size bed (or 2 single beds), bathroom, sitting area and use of kitchen. There is airco and WIFI.
It is a 1 km walk to the highway, where you can take the local transportation as far north as Playa del Carmen or south to Tulum for less than 3 USD per person. You will have use of a car 1 day per week to do your shopping/exploring. You will have a grocery allowance and can buy and cook your own food.
There is so much to do and see within the Mayan Riviera and we are located in the heart of it...Beautiful Beaches, Underground Rivers, Mayan Ruins.
The beaches to the north and south are endangered Green Sea Turtle habitat. The local NGO educates residents and visitors about habitat preservation. Yal Ku Lagoon, to the north is a haven for snorkeling; an area where fresh water percolating through ground limestone meets salt water and creates nutrient-rich habitat for marine life.
