Description
My wife and I recently purchased a rural house that needs some help. This lovely house is in the countryside of Mondoñedo a city in Galicia . We would love to share the relaxing country life. Our home overlooks a small river next to the property with beautiful green space trails along a gorgeous beach twenty minutes away by car.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workaway volunteers staying in Mondoñedo will experience authentic rural Galician life, which is very different from the fast-paced cities of Madrid and Barcelona. Located on the Camino del Norte, this small historic town offers the opportunity to immerse themselves in local traditions, festivals, and cuisine while exploring cultural landmarks such as the magnificent Mondoñedo Cathedral, the Cova do Rei Cintolo—the largest cave in Galicia—and the world-famous Praia das Catedrais (Cathedral Beach), just a short drive away. During the warmer months, there is also a beautiful natural river swimming area nearby, perfect for relaxing after a day of work or exploring.
Although we are relatively new to the area ourselves, we are excited to introduce our Workawayers to our local community, village events, and the Galician way of life as we continue discovering it together. We see hosting as a true cultural exchange. Volunteers will be welcomed as part of our team, sharing meals, conversations, and everyday life with us rather than simply helping with projects. We hope to share our experiences of building a new life in rural Spain, while learning about our guests’ cultures, languages, and perspectives. Our goal is for every Workawayer to leave with new friendships, a deeper appreciation of Galician culture, and memories of life in a welcoming rural community. -
Help
We’ll need help with projects around the house such as painting the house interior, gardening, carpentry and cleaning. Together we’ll make the necessary improvements on the house.

What else ...
House rules no smoking or vaping indoors, no drugs or heavy drinking. As a reminder the location is a quiet peaceful setting. Be kind and respectful of our living space. If you come outside summer months the area can be quite rainy. There’s no local transport other than buses between cities.
