Description
We are a medium size hotel on the beach of one of the best Surf spots in the world: The Mexican Pipeline. Our place is a family built and run hotel & restaurant/bar that sits right on Zicatela Beach in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. Our permanent staff consists of 17 employees in 4 areas: Reception, Maintenance/Gardening, Housekeeping, and The Restaurant. Our little hotel is built up the side of a mountain on the beach and our grounds are surrounded in tropical gardens. I am a Mexican/Canadian that has spent most of my life traveling and meeting new people and now I'd like to open my hotel to other travelers whom are seeking their own adventures. People from all over the world come here to surf, relax, Learn Spanish and explore. When you aren't helping here, there are endless amounts of activities to do in the area from skydiving to snorkeling, deep sea fishing, waterfalls, and of course Surfing! This place is a true paradise on earth where you can escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. From November to February, our guest list grows quite a bit and we like to provide new activities and services. We are always looking for new ideas and experiences to be shared.
To protect our volunteers, personnel and guests, volunteers MUST be vaccinated against Covid prior to arrival at the hotel and show proof of vaccination.
Volunteer rooms are not the same as guest rooms, and they are shared most often than not, but we are doing our best to improve everyone's experience continuously.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
The biggest part of our cultural experience is the Oaxaqueñan coast. Spanish is the primary language here and an excellent place to immerse yourself, but with some many foreigners you'll be sure to hear German, French, Portugueses, English, Swedish, and many more languages. This is a place where people from all over the world come and share their stories, their experiences & their traditions. Puerto is also very rich in it's own traditions from local ceremonies dating back more than a hundred years. There's always festivals going on, celebrating, life, culture, music, history, sports (like surfing), food and art.
Help
I'm looking for help with reception, shopping, housekeeping, event coordinators, or someone who can offer any special classes to my guests (ie. water aerobics, salsa, yoga, etc) to come join us, especially for the high season which is about to kick in! We are also interested in anyone with landscaping/gardening experience, basic maintenance, building/remodeling and hotel management skills.
Our three shifts are from 0800-0100pm, 0100pm-0600pm & 0600pm-1100pm.Languages spoken

We offer Shared accommodation at the hotel itself. We have rooms for two and 4 people (roommates) with a shared washroom/shower. Breakfast will be provided from the hotels's restaurant.
What else ...
The two best ways to get around Puerto are either walking or cabs. The cab fairs are very low and very affordable. Everything in with in a 10 min ride. There are many different beaches in the area and on the weekends there is a night market in "El Adoquín" which is 5 min from the hotel, with all kinds of artisans and local products. If you are feeling for adventurous there places a little further away that include hot springs, waterfalls, hikes, & nature sanctuaries. About a two hour drive from the hotel, you'll find the resort town of Huatulco, with beautiful beaches, movie theaters and more shopping. You can always take a 40 min plane trip to the city of Oaxaca, which has an amazing historical district and plenty of markets, as well as a Wallmart and Costco if you are looking for any specific shopping needs. There's always activities to do and people to meet. This truly is an amazing and one of a kind place!
