    Description

Hi, we are Johanna (28) and Julian (35) living with our two cats Benny and Bonny in a small house within the Altmühl valley close to Regensburg, Bavaria. We finally found our home still close to the city (30km), but in a small village to enjoy the countryside, breath, watching the stars and enabling so much little projects for the house, garden and (future) pets. We are both working remote between 75 and 100 %, Julian as software engineer, me as ecologist in an EU-project for wetland restoration, and therefore are at home most of the time, but still have limited time for realising our projects.
Our (rented) house is located on a large property with a 10.000 m² garden. We do not have to care about all of it (we have our own space around the house), but we can use it as we want. Our cats love to explore the rose and fruit garden all together :)

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are happy to share our German culture with you and can help to practise German if you wish :) of course we highly appreciate if you share your culture with us too!
Apart from that we love to play boardgames and also have plenty of jigsaws and other creative stuff you can do if you like :)

  • Help

    Help

You can help us with the weekly chores around the house(hold) or realising small projects that are waiting way too long on our ToDo-List, either inside or in the garden. Some of the tasks could be done together, but as we are both working 30-40h a week each, we are quite busy sometimes, so it would be a great help if you can work on your own most of the time.
Potential tasks may be: cooking, canning/preserving food (and caring about the collection of jars), building up the chicken coop (or if done caring about the chicken :)), gardening (vegetables, fruits, berry bushes, herbs), painting the walls, setting up our boardgame room in the basement, DIY projects (like shelves), ...
Please be creative and also share your ideas and skills :)

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

You would have an own room (Johannas office) and sleep on a sleeping couch. We will share the bathrooms all together. It‘s not optimal (esp. with the remote work), but we do our best to offer you your own space! Alternatively, in the garden would be space for a tent or van (if you have)

We try to eat all meals together. Cooking can be split between us or also done together (all depending on the available time). In case of meetings/working trips our eating times may differ, but there will be always enough food to prepare something for yourself. Please let us know about any dietary preferences or allergies and we try our best to adapt the meals towards them :)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Public transportation is limited over here. There is a small bus bringing you to the next train station in "Deuerling", there you would reach Nürnberg or Regensburg easily. We can offer you to pick you up either in "Deuerling" or "Saal" by car and can take you with us to close locations for own exploration and you can take one of our bikes. But please be aware that our place is not optimal if you want to stay flexible and undertake plenty of trips by yourself (apart of hiking/biking or if you bring you own car of course). On the other hand, if you are looking for peace and quiet close to the nature it will be perfect for you!

As we are both working remote, we have a good internet connection, currently via DSL, but soon also via glass fibre. Depending on the tasks by then, we could also offer a desk and/or a monitor. We will find a solution to arrange that us three will be able to work effectively :)

    Space for parking camper vans

On the property is plenty of space for a campervan. Even if the landlord won't be comfortable with it on the larger parking ground there would be space near our car and you can use the facilities within our house.

    Can possibly accept pets

It really depends on the pet. Our cats are not yet fully used to dogs. But I don't want to reject it in principle.
