    Description

Hi I’m Donna. I’m looking for a female for a week or so in June 2025 or possibly after this also. I’ve had four Workaway’ers so far stay with me. Great experiences. I have a gorgeous big dog called Maisie. I live on the beautiful Sheeps head peninsula on the coast in West Cork, Ireland. I work in community development. I like good food & cooking. The dog is a big part of my life. We live to be out in nature. I like to eat clean & am big in to health. I love to read, on&off with the gym, hill walking etc. The village I live in is small, called Durrus. It has 3 pubs & one restaurant & one shop. It’s well connected two or three times daily by bus to the nearby towns & down to the Beara peninsula. Hill walking is extremely popular in this area & the walking routes are well set up. It is a beautiful part of Ireland. Ahakista & Kilcrohane are close by. Bantry is 9km away & has everything you would need.

Living here on the South West Coast of Ireland travellers would experience country life & meeting local people in the village. People are very kind & interested to meet new people. There are lots of English & German people living locally. There is a great big market in Bantry every Friday. West cork can have a big of a hippy vibe compared to other parts of Ireland. The pubs in bantry have traditional Irish music & there are lots of festivals in the summer months. People sea swim & there is a mobile sauna most weekends that you can book in to. Nice way to chat to people. I have some nice friends here locally that you would get to meet. The food scene in west cork is very strong so foodies will delight. The pubs in Ahakista are lovely, both set on top of the road overlooking the sea. It’s a very popular area with other walkers.

    Help

So it would be lovely to have someone help me tidy up the garden which is small and overgrown. Help me mind the dog & play with her. She is very active & never gets tired. Help around the house would be a part of the tasks also, some cooking & cleaning! I work full time & it gets messy with the dog. I have a few things I’d like to paint too. That kind of stuff. I’m pretty flexible and would agree the tasks collaboratively 🙌🏻 It would be lovely if the guest liked to cook! I especially like to cook & eat well ❤️

    Accommodation

I have a big spare room with a king size bed & cosy new mattress. It is a two bedroom house with one bathroom. Small garden at the back. Full kitchen & living room. Washing machine & dryer. The fridge is always full & you can cook whatever you like and I’m sure we would also share meals. It is very important to me that a guest feels well fed & comfortable in my home. A guest would have to love dogs to stay here because Maisie is the centre of attention 🙌🏻

  • What else ...

    What else ...

During time off guests could go hill walking on the Sheeps head. Travel by bus to Bantry to explore places like Bantry house. Take a ferry to Whiddy island. Visit the Friday market in Bantry. Go from there to Glengarriff which is another beautiful coastal town with walks & ferries. The Beara peninsula is lovely too. There are local retreats & yoga classes, sauna & sea swimming. Nice cafes to visit. The bus goes to cork city and return daily & there is also a bus to Killarney which is v popular. I would happily drop & collect my guests so they could travel. It’s nice on a warm evening to have a drink in the village in Durrus & meet other visitors. I would drive someone to see Schull, Ballydehob & the Mizen peninsula also because that is less accessible from where I live in Durrus. I work from home quite a bit and maybe one day per week I go to the office in cork. Ideally my dog, Maisie would be taken care of those days. I walk here before work & at lunch time & again after work which can be tiring. I like making protein smoothies in the morning & throw together a fast lunch but have more time to cook in the evening. With some help my days would feel less rushed & I would get on top of jobs like gardening & weeding. I’m not a big fan of gardening! All help would be hugely welcome as it’s just me and the cream labradoodle Maisie 🐶.
