    Description

Hi Dan here, I live on the south coast NSW at a place called Wallaga Lake. I have Indigenous Australia heritage. My family from Grandmother / father side has lived in this area for thousands of years and I’m honoured to have ancestry connection to this unique beautiful landscape

This area is a special place and is rich in natural beauty. My house a short walk to a couple of well known places for photographers being Camel Rock beach, Horse Head Rock and Wallaga lake (all three areas are in my profile photos) , i’m grateful for what life has given me and I’m happy to share this with travellers who appreciate and respect the magic of nature and Aboriginal cultural knowledge

I'm friendly with an open mind . I find it interesting to meet people with different life experiences and lifestyle . I like to learn from deep conversations that makes me view from different perspectives. I’ve never been a classroom or text book leaner, I learn from connection, visualisation or experiencing,

If your interested in ocean activities and surfing whether your an experienced surfer or a beginner Camel Rock beach differently has its day, Although with a bit of size it dose have some punch so can be a difficult paddle out with a bit of size (4 foot and over) being surfer measurements of foot But all around it’s a good consistent surf break for both a beginner or more experience surfer. I’ve lived near the coast for most of my life and I’m comfortable at reading and knowing the ocean, I enjoy exploring the coastline and participating in all ocean activities,, i hold a deep respect and appreciation towards the ocean as its taught me many things over the years and will continue too

I also I have a bush property located in in the forest near a sacred mountain with a old school bus that soon will be my home This is also another beautiful area with lots of different wildlife A freshwater river flows alongside the property that has a deep-water hole, great area for meditation or swimming , although water temp can be refreshing as its spring feed from a near by mountain

My neighbour there has three horses and is always looking for someone to go riding with. I'm not familiar with horse riding but have a slight interest in learning how to ride

I’ve always worked within environmental field, I care deeply for nature ,forests the ocean and all the wildlife with in. I have previously. worked for national parks wildlife service, marine parks and Alliance. I now work for myself, I practice and specialise in traditional land management with fire.. this is the traditional fire Regime of Australia before colonisation ,it’s a complex but gentle approach with Fire and precise timing. This method has a holistic outcome that enhances and protect ecosystems and habitats within the Australian landscape. . This is a total different approach to Western Fire management systems of hazard reduction burn . I have also worked and experiencing in western fire management. While working with national parks I was a qualified remote area crew leader. Through this experience of both Western and traditional I can explain and teach the difference between both at a profound level

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I can share knowledge of the local culture and traditional land practice and different local landscapes / eco systems patterns and relationships with certain wildlife that are dependent or belong to that particular system. I also believe the each person depending on there personality also have a particular landscape that they belong too depending on there personality traits giving responsibility and care through connection to a certain landscape that simultaneously relate

I can explain to a in depth knowledge about both fire forest management system as well as the differences between western ( hazard reduction) and traditional methods and can explain both of the holistic outcome achieved

Depending on time of year and the season I can teach a little about different native plants, foods and uses . also gathering traditional sea foods

If you're interested in surfing, i can teach and give lessons to at a beginner level. I have a suitable board for those just starting for those who know how to surf i also have a heap of super light weight boards thst I'm not quite fit enough to surf on anymore due to padding. also teach other ocean and beach activities fishing, sailing, snorkelling

I enjoy the social aspects that workaway has to offer. I enjoy learning from guests as much as I enjoy teaching, I’m always up for learning something new either through practical experience or by engaging through in-depth conversations.

I have interest to learn and practising consistently yoga, meditation ,and Pilates
