 - Description- About us ❤️
We are out of the city and live on a beautiful bush property near a forest (with community building aspirations) and have a not-for profit community dance and music studio down the road (with aspirations of more community, exchange/cultural exchange/skill exchange type (non profit) artist residencies, meditation and healing arts and arts events and gatherings happening there!).
I have a young son and
We welcome individuals, couples and families!!) We want to build a community of people- short , medium and long term staying/residing here- sharing art, music, dance, yoga, food, gardening and wholesome things together on our property!
We live in Newham, macedon ranges, one hour from Melbourne (more by train). We can pick you up from the station which is 15 minutes away (Kyneton or Woodend). If you have your own transport- that’s wonderful, but we do leave the property at least once a day so we can do occasional drop offs in town for shops etc And we would be open to negotiating some touristy drop offs locally.
We have a few separate spaces and shared spaces - so- we can chat about best sleeping arrangements.
 Length of stay ❤️
We are open to short and also long term stays- just need to see how it feels before we have someone stay and as we go along.
 Work hopes ❤️
We would love help with basic house stuff , cleaning, cooking, helping with our artist retreat set ups- and creating a more home-like feel, Henry (my son) hanging out / babysitting is always loved and welcome! And speaking Spanish with him if you can (which Charlotte speaks at home with him)… or another language! We would love to exchange creative skills or practical skills too!
Hours wise- We go between two options- either five hours work a day with two days off a week in exchange for food and accomodation.
Or, 15 hours a week help (3 hours a day for 5 days) but with no food provided. This changes depending on what other commitments we have when you come.
LANGUAGE ❤️We have a special interest in a Spanish speaking work away person/people () (Charlotte only speaks Spanish with Henry). But we are open to non Spanish speaking visitors too if there are other interests in common.
 More about us ❤️
We love to share food and culture and life with people who visit us. We can share our creative loves (you could come to classes (as a guest) that I teach if you like!), you can play in the studio which is just down the road, have a go on our instruments, enjoy the bush and swimming holes, meet some local revegetation/conservation legends (my parents!), and get to know a very special old-volcanic country.
A bit more about us- ❤️ we have a hobby vegetable patch and want to plant more local species also, and neglect the weeding a lot, so love support! We have some light aspirations to start preserving and drying food and planting more fruit trees and such. We have simple things we would like help with at home and in and around the studio.
I’m (Charlotte) a composer and musician and lead people in the community in meditative and vocal improvisational exploratory projects, and composition, currently I play drums in a monthly TaKeTiNa workshop in Melbourne and I am the artist in residence (sharing expressive arts and music therapy) at a not for profit home for elders in Kyneton, and…. Henry is a ball of love and energy… and was born January 2023! Willow our dog is very affectionate and loves playing ball.
