Description
We're a small group of volunteers who are in the midst of building an open community of higher learning where art, aesthetics, movement, and genuine interactions are as important as academic content. An oasis of free speech in our beautiful castle in the Ardennes, where students and academics can once again challenge each other to grow intellectually, emotionally and spiritually.
Whilst we opened our doors to our first students in September, there is still a lot of work to be done to make sure Nova Academia keeps prospering. We are renovating the castle to ensure we can host 40 students next academic year. As such we'd like to invite you to help out with renovating, painting/ decorating, gardening, etc. We will simultaneously be giving lessons to our students so on top of the perks listed above you will also receive daily access to one academic lesson and one healthy campus activity (for example music, martial arts or dancing).
People of all colours, creeds and vaccination statuses are welcome.
Of course, don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We always set up a Zoom call with anyone who is interested before we or you makes a final decision.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We want to create a truly open dialogue among people who might have various backgrounds and stories to tell.
We offer an academic program of which parts will be open to you as a volunteer free of charge. At our location you will be in touch in any case with other volunteers from all over the world. Our first experiences over the Summer have proven this to be indispensable and enriching for everyone involved. Starting from September, there will be students present who you will also be able to meet and exchange experiences with.
On top of that, there will be other volunteer groups from the international region that Theux is in the middle of. That is to say, people from the Southern part of the Netherlands, Germany and of course both French- en Flemish speaking Belgium. This special location will definitely allow you to discover a lot of this exciting part of Europe.
Any experience that we can share with volunteers, students or visitors and their view on our organisation is valuable to us - we are excited about your feedback!Help
We would like to welcome you to help with, for example: - Gardening - Creating a nature trail - Vegetable garden - Swimming pond - Cleaning - Other chores (no heavy labor of course)
This summer (from the end of June) a number of weekends of so-called boot camps will be organized where organizational help may also be needed. We would like to offer you stays of at least one week.
Languages spoken

Since you are staying in a castle, there are several beautiful and unique rooms available. Depending on the exact period that you will be staying with us, you will have a room to yourself or occasionally sleep in a dormitory. The bathrooms are in principle shared anyway. Of course, there will be food -- help with cooking is always welcome.
What else ...
You will be staying in the countryside, which means that a car is useful, but not necessarily necessary. There is bus transport to Liège, from where you can easily reach other places in the region, such as Maastricht and the rest of Belgium. The area is of course perfect for people who like being in nature and the mountains and who love the sports and activities that come with it.
A little more information
