Description
We have 2 gites and are looking for help with our winter projects: restoring a barn and repairs and maintenance.
We are currently looking for people to assist with gardening, maintenance work on our property and also in the
house as Sue is wheelchair bound.
We would prefer mature Workawayers minimum 20 years old who can do cleaning, gardening, shopping etc. Anybody
with DIY, construction, carpentry or building experience would be very welcome.
We are a British family (from Scotland and Jersey) living in an old farmhouse half way between Saint Malo and
Rennes in Brittany.
We have restored a traditional 19th Century cob (earth) bake house with the help of Workawayers and it is now a workshop. We have a B&B apartment which Workawayers are welcome to use when not occupied by guests.
Our family consists of Dave and Sue, our son Mike, 2 border collies and a Berger Allemand puppy. Also we have 2 cats, Frank
and Marmalade as well as 5 chickens.
We speak French and English and Dave is an English language teacher.
The house is 1 kilometer from the village, which has a shop, a bar and a canal.
This is a very popular tourist area with lots to do and see.
Mont Saint Michel, Dinan, Combourg, Dol and Saint Malo are all nearby and the Normandy landing beaches are 2
hours away.Types of help and learning opportunities

This is a beautiful part of France, rich in culture and history with lots of places to see and visit like Mont St Michel, Saint Malo, Dinan and Rennes. There are lots of beaches, castles, pretty villages, ancient sites and you can explore on bikes using the canal towpaths. You can improve your English or French and join in with art, crafts and Yoga.

Help
If it is raining we have jobs to finish inside and there is always lots of housework to be done and we especially enjoy cooking. As Sue is wheelchair bound she is unable to do a lot of the chores. We ask Workawayers to work up to 5 hours a day, 5 days a week and outside of those hours to help with cooking, food preparation, mealtime and cleaning.
We are interested in crafts, art, music, movies, games and lots more and we love meeting new people and experiences.Languages spoken

We have a one bedroom apartment and 2 one bedroom gites (holiday cottage) which are available to workawayers. Meals are provided and we eat together as a family.
What else ...
There are lots of markets and vide greniers (car boots) in the area. You can borrow bikes and tour the area along the canal towpaths. We go for walks with the dogs and have get togethers and BBQs with friends.
Mike smokes but only in his own apartment and outside the house.A little more information
