    Description

Experience the authenticity of rural Bihar with us! Our team is working towards uplifting Karkatgarh Village amidst of Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary. We aim to boost rural tourism by reconnecting and renovating mud houses for guests, providing hospitality and skill development training to villagers, beautifying the village through setting up selfie points and cafes for visitors and also supporting local farming initiatives. Additionally, we would love to get involved in educating the children in the village. Help us by fostering sustainable development and creating memorable experiences in this serene side of rural Bihar.

This region is surrounded by a lush green forest, where tribes have made their home for many generations. The name "Karkatgarh," was given because it is a natural habitat for crocodiles where ("karkat" means crocodile, and "garh" means home). Most importantly, Bihar's biggest waterfall is within a short distance of about 500 meters from the village.

While you stay here, you can involve yourself in various activities such as. Engage in bird watching, spot different flora & fauna, give lectures at the local school, and explore the traditional art of working with wood, rock and mud.

Please note: The village is situated in a remote and isolated area with no access to networks except through a Jio connection. Additionally, there is no electricity; however, there is limited power backup available through solar panels.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Engaging in a cultural exchange during travels brings many benefits to the travellers. Here's how they get something from such experiences:

    1. Cultural exchange exposes travellers to diverse ways of life along with that travellers will get their hands on making sustainable homes and maintaining them. This will help them understand the basic needs of living.

    2. Involving in various cultural activities, such as traditional arts or crafts will allow travellers to develop new skills, adding to their personal and professional life ahead. Since it is a tourist attraction. Hence, they also get a platform to share their own arts or crafts skills.

    3. Sharing cooking experiences, travellers can explore and appreciate local cuisines, learn about the ingredients, cooking methods, and cultural significance of local dishes and also share their staple food cooking skills.

    4. Practice new languages and also exchange them with the locals to improve their communication skills.

    5. Connecting with people from different cultures, opens doors to future collaborations, friendships, and shared experiences.

    6. Expertise in facing real-time challenges and solving them.

    Help

I'll tell you about the projects we are seeing for the next 2 years to develop this village. Travellers can decide themselves what help they can offer:

    1. First and foremost is developing a sustainable guest house so the villagers may get an insight into what & how we look forward to developing the entire village. People generally don't believe you until you prove to them what exactly you want to do. So we have a site in the village that we need to renovate and make it functional for the tourist.

    2. The second target is to make a small clinic where basic medication and first aid can be given to all. As the nearest hospital is 25kms away from the village it is challenging for people to cross the dense forest during an emergency so in future we might also allocate an ambulance for it.

    3. Villagers have no hospitality training though it is a major tourist attraction. People come here to enjoy themselves with their family and friends a few on weekdays and a major footfall on weekends. So we need specialised training for them.

    4. Workawayers can help also on farms and share their experience of agriculture if they have.

    5. Major help is also required in promoting and advertising this place which is best through word of mouth. Still, if anyone is a digital marketing expert they are most welcome to help us reach the other side of the world. We can raise funds, charity or donations as well to help this village.

    6. This village has no electricity supply as if now they have few hours of backup through sustainable energy generation which is a maximum of 4-5 hours daily. We need to reach it to 24-hour electricity supply.

    7. DIY projects to make a comfortable living or any ideas to make the village look more beautiful are appreciated. The village right now is completely raw and untouched.

    8. Share and learn about food and culture

    9. Housekeeping and Gardening

    10. General Maintenance

We're offering individual beds in common rooms in mud houses. The rooms are spacious, with private beds for each person, and there's a shared toilet/bathroom. This mud house is in the village itself and the waterfall is 500 meters walk from there.

Our kitchen is common and it will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner if you wish to lend a hand in preparing the meals then you are most welcome. It's a communal kitchen, so if you prefer to cook your food, feel free to do so.
