Description
Hello everyone, we are a bilingual (French and English) family (me Marco, my spouse Rebecca and our small daughter Dina).
I, Marco, use to own a vintage furniture shop in the Mile-End in Montreal. It got closed down by the owner of the building 3 years ago, so I moved all of my stuff to a new location to start a community project by the water in the country. I would like to developp a non profit organisation wich involves vintage furniture, vintage music studio with small webcasted concerts (tiny desk style) and maybe a café.
My spouse, Rebecca, loves cooking and will feed us very well. She’s also the one who’s good at keeping us on track.
We have hosted about 30 volunteers in the past and we love meeting new people, different cultures, keeping busy and exchanging on various topics.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
If you come to our cottage, you will be surounded with trees. The studio space is by a big river. There is also a river and a lake right next to our cottage (2 minute walk). You’ll be able to learn about quebec’s culture and eat traditionnal quebecois meals. We can also teach you french or english. And I think we are a great stepping stone to Montreal because we have lots of connections. If you’re musicaly inclined, there’s many vintage instruments to play.
We are hosting primarily to encourage cultural exchange and meaningful learning experiences. Sharing our home with visitors is an opportunity for us to discover new perspectives, traditions, and ways of thinking from around the world.
We enjoy having breakfast, lunch, and dinner together over home-cooked meals. These moments are important to us, as they allow for open conversations, cultural exchange, and the sharing of ideas. We would be happy to help you practice French or English, and we are always interested in learning about your language, culture, and experiences in return.
We appreciate thoughtful discussions about society, politics, personal challenges, and life goals. We value respectful conversations, even on complex or polarized subjects, and we enjoy supporting and encouraging others in their projects and ambitions.
During your stay, we hope to interact regularly—sharing meals, conversations, and activities—while also respecting everyone’s need for personal space. You can enjoy long walks on renowned trails, bike rides, swimming in the river or lake, reading, watching movies, or simply experiencing the peace and quiet of nature and wildlife around us.
Through hosting, we hope to broaden our understanding of different cultures, improve our intercultural communication, and build lasting connections based on mutual learning and respect.

Help
community project:
We are currently looking for a couple or two friends who will help us setting up the scenery and finishing up the light diy projects. Also, our daughter will not go to daycamp this summer, so someone who is good with kids would be nice. If you're alone or don't think you have the skills but are interested in our organisation concept, please contact us and we will try our best to welcome you into our journey.
I’m looking for help for the whole summer season (from May to October) to help me sort thru my things, post online, help me finish building an extension, plug in my audio gear and make this new space the best it can be with the ressources we have.
