Thankyou so much Julie and Sigurd for welcoming us into your home, allowing us to have a really interesting opportunity and for taking care of us everyday. We throughly enjoyed our time with you, playing games, eating delicious foods & looking after the pets. We enjoyed helping Julie transform some parts of her garden and taking Tara for many

I couldn't reccomend more to visit Julie & Sigurd and help with their many ongoing projects. Thankyou & see you again one day :)You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

We had Gergely and Rebeka (or Gary and Becky) staying with us for roughly two months this spring. Its not easy moving in to a family of four like this, but these two just slipped in like they naturally belonged here.
We have approximately on thousand projects we need help with around the farm, and upon their arrival the weather was not
… read more cooperating with our plans to start outside. We decided to give the livingroom a quick layer of paint just to get started, but as always our old house had some surprises for us. Gary and Becky got stuck with the dusty sanding machines for more than three full days – very dusty and noisy – but no complaints. The room ended up looking brand new and up to date.
Julie and Becky got involved in a bunch of gardening projects – from replanting the tomato plants to establishing a new greenhouse tunnel and new vegetable patches. The days and hours flew by, and whenever Greg had a moment to spare, he rushed to help the girls and keep himself busy. The even got the “nice” work to manually clear out a huge pile of old manure – this was very heavy work and no need to go to the gym those days
Gary and Sigurd where more involved in the barn, trying to clear out old junk that had been stored for decades to make space for our renovations, installing garage doors and tearing out an old barn floor. All in all very dusty and some times even risky work.
We are very satisfied with the work they have done for us, and the way they just integrated themselves into the everyday life in our family. They would see where some effort around the house was needed, taking a turn with the vacuum cleaner, putting stuff in and out of the dishwasher, preparing meals for the family, cleaning after dinner and just adding a helping hand.
We warmly recommend these two lovely people to anyone looking for help. We would welcome them back at a later time with no hesitations

The 2 months we spent with Sigurd and Julie were our first real workaway experience and it couldn't have been better. Both are great hosts and cooks, very attentive and flexible. The work was very varied and exciting: redecorating the living room, painting, installing insulation, installing a garage door, gardening, renovating the old barn,

Sykkylven is in a wonderful location with plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing and all kinds of outdoor adventures. So it was a perfect opportunity for us. We are sorry that we missed fishing with Per Ivar, but we hope that he will be able to use the baits that we left for him and that he will have many great fishing experiences. We will really miss the after dinner conversations and Shasmina's jokes. We hope that we will have the opportunity to visit the wonderland created by Sigurd and Julie and their currently under construction craft beer pub again. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

We actually tried our best to scare Anne-Julie from coming to stay with us - we had a weeks autumn vacation schedueled in the middle of the dates she wanted to visit us, but she insisted that staying here alone, watching our house, cats and dog was not a problem at all.
Meeting up with us was a very smiling and happy young woman. She quickly

The original plan was that she should help prepare our garden for the winter time, but the first week`s weather was not very ideal for working outside. On the days of our vacation, she cleaned and organized our house in a perfect way.
On the week after our return from the vacation, she was able to finish all the tasks we had planned outdoors: cleaning up the leaves, planting winter onions and garlic, getting all the garden furniture and tools stored indoors, and all the other bits and pieces that needs to be done before the snow covers everything.
She even prepared and served us a traditional French meal - something we really appreciated. We just love getting the culinary impressions from the home region of our workawayers.
Anne-Julie is an extremely easy person to have around the house. We had long interesting and nice talks about just about everything and anything, she handled our kids like she was their big sister and was just a perfect family member for her whole stay. We would really love to have her back some day and is easily recommended to anyone looking for a workawayer.

I spent almost 3 weeks with Julie, Sigurd and their children. I had the chance to eat Julie’s food which was always amazing and to play a lot of board games with Shasmina (I love the mexican train, you have to try!). It was very interesting to hear about some Norvegian culture facts and the several projects that this family have, so ambitious!

If you are lucky, you will discover the beautiful surroundings while walking Tara, and if she does not want to go, go and walk around by yourself!
A big thank you to this family again, wish you the best for the future!!You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I arrived as a stranger I left as family. I was supposed to stay only one month, but finally stayed two :) From the first night I felt like home !
Most of the work was in the garden with Julie. Flowers, vegetables, fruits, there is a lot to do, but working outside with such a surrounding is absolutely not a problem !
It's hard to describe the

We had a great experience with Sigurd, Julie and their family. We achieved a lot together, had some great conversations, explored much of the surrounding area and ate like royalty.
Hope to be back one day!

Julie and Sigurd have a welcoming home in a beautiful fjord area with the Sunmøre Alps at the background. I stayed with them for 2 weeks in September. They provide a very nice and spacious guest room with a very comfortable bed and a bathroom. I worked in the large and beautiful garden, the pride of Julie. It was the time for dead heading flowers,
… read more cutting shrubs and roses, weeding, etc. I set up a composting area with the garden waste. The new vegetable garden set up by Julie provided us with fresh vegetables. In my free time, I often walked in the surrounding area along the lake or into the mountains with Tara, the family dog. Several walks can be made right from the house. In the forest there are berries and mushrooms to be gathered. On my first day off I climbed the Aurdalnibba (1158m) as suggested by Julie and Sigurd. It turned out to be one of the best experiences I had during my 2 month stay in Norway. I surprised myself that I could write my name in the little booklet on the top. On the other day off I toured the surrounding fjord area and along the Sunmøre Alps.
Both children speak good English and especially Shasmina likes chatting. I loved my talks with Julie. Both Julie and Sigurd are quite busy with work, family, rentals and hobbies, but they are used to having guests and they took time to teach me about Norwegian life and their life on a farm in Sykkylven in particular. I learned to make juice with the black crow berries that I had picked on the mountain.
Thank you Julie, Sigurd, Per Ivar, Shasmina and Tara for having me. I enjoyed my stay with you very much. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.
