    Description

My husband and I have 1.5 acres in a rural community in the Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada. We have two adult daughters who have moved away. We are a 10-minute bike ride from beautiful Harrison Lake and enjoy many local mountain trails hiking and mountain biking. Our dog , Boris, helps us with the gardening.

I often help at local music festivals which you could also take part in depending on the time of year. I enjoy showing people the best trails for hiking and can have mountain bikes available for you to try if you like. We have paddleboards to use on the nearby lakes in the summer. I'm looking forward to learning other languages. My gardening skills are always evolving so you might teach me as much as I might teach you. In the summer there are farmers markets and bicycle tours of the local farms. The indigenous people are an every day part of our community but will sometimes hold celebrations that the public can attend like Sasquatch days with war canoe races and dancing.

    Help

We always appreciate help in the yard which could be pruning, painting the fence, trimming the hedges, planting vegetables, weeding and chopping wood. On rainy days we might maintain the garden tools or do deep cleaning projects. I work 3.5 days a week so would be doing these tasks with you most of the time. I enjoy using organic farming methods as much as possible.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have a room over the garage that has 2 beds, a futon couch, small table as well as a bathroom with shower. There is a wifi connection available of moderate speed. I would like to make our menu plans prior to your stay but love to cook, even if you have dietary restrictions. My husband and I would generally plan to have you join us for supper. It would be difficult to provide cooked breakfast and lunch on the days I go to work but could make 3 meals a day on my days off (generally Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday). We can plan what groceries you would like to have in your room for snacks prior to your arrival. I can provide rain coats and rubber boots for working in rainy weather.
We are hoping you will join us for meals most days. We will provide you with groceries for your breakfast and lunch on days when we have to go to our jobs. I would like to plan a menu ahead of time to make sure it is to your liking.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

No smoking or vaping in the house please- I am very sensitive to smoke. Our dog is quite big and would be taking care of the yard on days we are at work so our home may not be appropriate if you are afraid of or allergic to dogs. There is a bus stop near the end of our road (about a 5 minute walk away) if you want to travel to a bigger town or we can have bicycles available to travel locally.
